Does the enemy have a claim on you?

Do you feel like your life is stuck in a vicious cycle? Have you been fervently praying for healing that has not manifested? Are you bound to an addiction that you can't overcome? Are you, or members of your family, caught in a generational pattern of sin and suffering?

On the cross, Jesus set us free to live a life full of peace, joy, and strength! However, in the courtrooms of the spiritual realm, the accuser brings legal claims against God's people. These charges can prevent us from securing the breakthroughs that Jesus has already purchased on our behalf.

When you pray bloodline prayers, you actively apply the power of Jesus' blood to your life!

Through bloodline prayers we can dissolve ancient spiritual covenants and claims that affect our daily lives. Praying over your bloodline will release you into truly living the life you are called to live.

Discover how to:

- Pray prayers that break the legal claims of curses off of your life and family.

- Step into the freedom and authority that the gospel makes available.

- Stop cyclical patterns of dysfunction in your family.

- Emerge into new areas of freedom and authority.

This revelatory teaching includes prayers to spiritually cleanse your bloodline. Get ready to see cycles powerfully reversed, and experience the full manifestation of Jesus' victory in your life!

Contemplation and Classical Christianity - A Study in Augustine (Hardcover): John Peter Kenney Contemplation and Classical Christianity - A Study in Augustine (Hardcover)
John Peter Kenney
R2,735 Discovery Miles 27 350 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

After resolving to become a Catholic Christian, Augustine spent a decade trying to clarify his understanding of 'contemplation,' the interior presence of God to the soul. That long struggle yielded his classic account in the Confessions. This study explores Augustine's developing understanding of contemplation, beginning with his earliest accounts written before his baptism and ending with the Confessions. Chapter One examines the pagan monotheism of the Roman Platonists and the role of contemplation in their theology. Augustine's pre-baptismal writings are then considered in Chapter Two, tracking his fundamental break from pagan Platonism. Chapter Three then turns to Augustine's developing understanding of contemplation in these pre-baptismal texts. Chapter Four concentrates on Augustine's thought during the decade after his baptism in 387, a period that encompasses his monastic life in Thagaste, and his years first as a presbyter and then as a bishop in Hippo Regius. This chapter follows the arc of Augustine's thought through these years of transition and leads into the Confessions, giving a vantage point to survey its theology of contemplation. Chapter Five concentrates on the Confessions and sets its most famous account of contemplation, the vision at Ostia from Book IX, into a larger polemical context. Augustine's defence of his transcendental reading of scripture in Confessions XII is analysed and then used to illuminate the Ostian ascent narrative. The book concludes with observations on the importance of Augustine's theology of contemplation to the emergence of Christian monotheism in late antiquity.

Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation - Understanding the Mass (Hardcover): John F. Baldovin S. J. Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation - Understanding the Mass (Hardcover)
John F. Baldovin S. J.
R1,415 Discovery Miles 14 150 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation is an invitation to a deeper appreciation for the celebration of the Mass and a greater conviction of its importance for our ordinary living-out of Christian faith in daily life. Taking into account the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the new edition of the General Instruction on the Roman Missal, Fr. John Baldovin, S.J., centers his lucid commentary on the Mass around the most recent official documents and provides an up-to-date survey of the historical development of the Mass from the New Testament to the present. Clear, concise, and accessible, Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation is an informative and powerful reflection on the meaning of the Eucharist for us today. This book responds to questions such as What are the orgins of the Mass? How did the Mass develop into what we know today? Why do we have several readings from Scripture at every Mass? Why do we always read a passage from the Gospels last? Why is the Eucharistic Prayer called the center and highpoint of the celebration of the Eucharist? What difference does it make if communion is distributed from the tabernacle or consecrated at the Mass at which people are receiving? Why do we have more than one Eucharistic Prayer? Is it important that people are offered communion in both kinds-the Body and the Blood of Christ? Why did the Mass get its popular name from the dismissal (missa)? Why was it important to recover the exchange of peace?

The Three Miraculous Prayers of King Hezekiah tells the story of the good Jewish King Hezekiah, who lived, ruled, struggled, prayed, and saw incredible miracles 2,700 years ago. King Hezekiah was a man desperate for God's help in ways that we can all relate to today. While you may not be a king-with all the benefits and troubles it brings-you probably have people who depend on you for guidance and protection. In today's world, you may find yourself unemployed, seriously ill, alone and facing great adversity, or dealing with all kinds of other troubles that seem way too big to handle on your own. In The Three Miraculous Prayers of King Hezekiah, author W. D. Crowder shares the story of King Hezekiah to illustrate how we can overcome odds that sometimes seem insurmountable in order to survive troubling times. Crowder explores how a seemingly obscure Jewish King of the tiny southern Israeli Kingdom of Judah dealt with and miraculously overcame many of the same issues that personally impact you today. The example of this good man King Hezekiah may astonish you. The Three Miraculous Prayers of King Hezekiah tells a fascinating, true story supported by the Bible and other historical records and addresses problems that are relevant to us today in these troubling times.

The Womb of Advent (Paperback): Mark Bozzuti-Jones The Womb of Advent (Paperback)
Mark Bozzuti-Jones
R372 Discovery Miles 3 720 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Mark Bozzutti-Jones offers a unique perspective on the season of Advent. Along with Scripture readings and prayers, he offers four weeks of meditations that focus on the growth of Jesus in the womb of Mary as he approaches the day of his birth, learns his mother's voice, responds to the presence of light and dark, and begins to position himself for birth.
What does this teach us about our own spiritual journey through Advent? Waiting and preparation is essential to the Christian life. By reflecting on our own birth experiences and Jesus' own progress through the womb, Christians can learn how to remain intimate with God, how to approach the light, and how to get ready for new birth in Christ.
The Womb of Advent guides the reader through each day with a mantra, scripture reading, and questions to focus our meditation. Each session ends with a spiritual exercise.

How do people experience spirituality through what they see, hear, touch, and smell? Sonja Luehrmann and an international group of scholars assess how sensory experience shapes prayer and ritual practice among Eastern Orthodox Christians. Prayer, even when performed privately, is considered as a shared experience and act that links individuals and personal beliefs with a broader, institutional, or imagined faith community. It engages with material, visual, and aural culture including icons, relics, candles, pilgrimage, bells, and architectural spaces. Whether touching upon the use of icons in age of digital and electronic media, the impact of Facebook on prayer in Ethiopia, or the implications of praying using recordings, amplifiers, and loudspeakers, these timely essays present a sophisticated overview of the history of Eastern Orthodox Christianities. Taken as a whole they reveal prayer as a dynamic phenomenon in the devotional and ritual lives of Eastern Orthodox believers across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.

John Dominic Crossan
R342 Discovery Miles 3 420 Ships in 2 - 4 working days

Every Sunday, the Lord's Prayer echoes in churches around the world.

It is an indisputable principle of Christian faith. It is the way Jesus taught his followers to pray and distills the most essential beliefs required of every one of the world's 2.5 billion Christians. In "The Greatest Prayer," our foremost Jesus scholar explores this foundational prayer line by line for the richest and fullest understanding of a prayer every Christian knows by heart.

An expert on the historical Jesus, Crossan provides just the right amount of history, scholarship, and detail for us to rediscover why this seemingly simple prayer sparked a revolution. Addressing issues of God's will for us and our response, our responsibilities to one another and to the earth, the theology of our daily bread, the moral responsibilities that come with money, our nation-states, and God's kingdom, Crossan reveals the enduring meaning and universal significance of the only prayer Jesus ever taught.

John Paul II was the first pope since the early 1600s to view the evil and his minions not only as formidable foes, but as tangible forces which the Catholic church must battle on a daily basis. The priest charged with spearheading this mission is Father Gabriele Amorth and his Office of Exorcism. Revitalising a long-dormant practice, Father Amorth has re-established exorcism as a common rite in the church with a series of seminars and training sessions during which priests from all over the world learn how to fight Satan here on Earth. Tracy Wilkinson gained access to the Vatican's highest authorities, allowing her to cover this story from every angle - both beneficiaries and victims of exorcism, sceptical scientists, devout believers and even those priests within the church who question the revival of the practice.

Celebrating the Eucharist - A Practical Ceremonial Guide for Clergy and Other Liturgical Ministers (Paperback): Patrick Malloy Celebrating the Eucharist - A Practical Ceremonial Guide for Clergy and Other Liturgical Ministers (Paperback)
Patrick Malloy
R1,381 Discovery Miles 13 810 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

In this first new Eucharistic customary in nearly 20 years, Patrick Malloy, an Episcopal priest and liturgical scholar, presents a clear, illustrated guide for the presider and other leaders of the liturgy, contemporary in approach but based on ancient and classic principles of celebration. The 1979 "Book of Common Prayer, " like its predecessors, is long on telling the Church what to say, and short on telling it what to do. This leaves those who "choreograph" Prayer Book liturgies with a complex task and a powerful influence over the faith of the Church. The author begins with a concise theology of the liturgy that underpins all of his specific directives in the book. Contents include: Theological and liturgical principles; Liturgical ministry and liturgical ministers; Liturgical space; Vesture, vessels, and other liturgical objects; The liturgical year; The shape of the liturgy; The sung liturgy and singing during the liturgy; The order of the Eucharist (the "heart" of the book); and The celebration of Baptism during the Eucharist.

Why Is Easter a Movable Feast? - The Spiritual and Astronomical Significance of the Changing Date of Easter (Paperback):... Why Is Easter a Movable Feast? - The Spiritual and Astronomical Significance of the Changing Date of Easter (Paperback)
Walther Buhler; Foreword by Peter Breda
R284 Discovery Miles 2 840 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

The date of Easter is different every year. Not only does the date change because Easter is always on a Sunday, but also because it's always the date of the first full moon after the spring equinox. That means it can be anytime between March 22 and April 25. Some people have argued that we should fix the date of Easter each year -- to the first or second Sunday in April -- so that school term dates, for example, could be consistent and predictable. This book explores the significance of keeping Easter as a movable festival. Based on his research into the importance of rhythm for human health and wellbeing, physician Walter Buhler demonstrates a profound connection between the complex rhythms of the sun and the moon and the historical events of Christ's death and resurrection. He argues that, in the same way the rhythm of day and night is reflected in waking and sleeping, celebrating Easter on a different date each year reflects the deep connection and harmony between human beings and the rhythms of the cosmos.

In a world that's difficult to make sense of, and a season that's so often overtaken by consumerism, here you'll find heart-stirring illustrations and thought-provoking meditations designed to show you the raw, powerfully sacred story of Christmas in a new light. Has the joy of the holiday season become painfully dissonant with the hard edges of life? Do you feel weary from the way Christmas has become a polished, predictable brand? You aren't alone. For too many of us, Christmas has lost its wonder. What if we stopped treating the Christmas story as something that happened a long time ago and started believing that it's a story that's still happening today? From celebrated artist and storyteller Scott Erickson comes Honest Advent, 25 days of illustrations and meditations that will help you rekindle the wonder of this season. Honest Advent creates a space for you to encounter the Incarnate Christ in unexpected places: like a pregnancy announcement in an era of political unrest and empirical bloodshed, the morning sickness of a Middle Eastern teenager, and the shocking biology of birth that goes far beyond the sanitized brand of Christmas as we know it today. Within the pages of Honest Advent, Erickson teaches us the valuable lessons he's learned about: Finding hope and light in the darkest winters What it means to embrace the unexpected How God uses everyday vulnerability to help us understand ourselves, and our faith, better Through powerful benedictions, prayers, and questions for honest reflection, you'll discover how the wonder of God-with-Us is still happening today: in your unexpected change of plans, your unaccomplished dreams, your overcrowded lodging, and your humble stories of new beginnings. Praise for Honest Advent: "Scott Erickson's beautifully crafted book helped me see God-with-Us with fresh eyes. Honest Advent is no shallow seasonal gift book; it's an invitation to explore the divine flourishes of everyday human vulnerabilities. A transformative read, regardless of the time of year." --Jonathan Merritt, author of Learning to Speak God from Scratch "Beautiful. Evocative. A wake-up call to the mystery of life." --John Mark Comer, author of The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry

The Cockleshell Pilgrim - A Medieval Journey To Compostela (Paperback): Katherine Lack The Cockleshell Pilgrim - A Medieval Journey To Compostela (Paperback)
Katherine Lack
R353 Discovery Miles 3 530 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

In 1986, the remains of a man dressed as a pilgrim, complete with boots, a stout staf and a cockleshell, were accidentally uncovered in Worcester Cathedral. Who was he? Why had he been accorded burial in this place? What do his grave-goods mean? We can never know for sure, but sufficient evidence exists to suggest that the man was Robert Sutton, a wealthy dyer, and that he had been on the long pilgrimage to Compostela. Using a whole range of resources, Kathering Lack vividly brings to life Sutton's journey across war-torn and plague-ridden medieval Europe to the tomb of St James. Her exhilarating book will be of value not only to those concerned with medieval spirituality, but to the great number of people drawn to pilgrimages old and new. "Everystage of that first day's walk remained for ever etched on his mind. He had travelled this road before, several times, but mounted, as a solidly affluent citizen. Now he was on foot, conspicuously dressed and making such low progress that at times the view hardly changed from one hour to the next." The Cockleshell Pilgrim
