Bill Bradley is arguably one of the most well-versed public figures
of our time.
Not For Turning is the first volume of Charles Moore's authorized biography of Margaret Thatcher, the longest serving Prime Minister of the twentieth century and one of the most influential political figures of the postwar era. Charles Moore's biography of Margaret Thatcher, published after her death on 8 April 2013, immediately supersedes all earlier books written about her. At the moment when she becomes a historical figure, this book also makes her into a three dimensional one for the first time. It gives unparalleled insight into her early life and formation, especially through her extensive correspondence with her sister, which Moore is the first author to draw on. It recreates brilliantly the atmosphere of British politics as she was making her way, and takes her up to what was arguably the zenith of her power, victory in the Falklands. (This volume ends with the Falklands Dinner in Downing Street in November 1982.) Moore is clearly an admirer of his subject, but he does not shy away from criticising her or identifying weaknesses and mistakes where he feels it is justified. Based on unrestricted access to all Lady Thatcher's papers, unpublished interviews with her and all her major colleagues, this is the indispensable, fully rounded portrait of a towering figure of our times.
2012 Reprint of 1939 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This pamphlet is a manifesto, at once concise, cogent and eloquent, of individualistic liberalism. It is a fundamental challenge to the doctrine of liberal socialism. The kernel of his argument is that collectivist economic planning involves the planning organ of society in making final and authoritative decisions concerning the relative importance of different human needs: it therefore presupposes a very large measure of agreement on the part of the whole people in the matter of social values.

"I've had enough of the hypocrisy, political correctness, and cry-baby syndrome of some on the left as they call you whatever, whenever, however without blinking an eye. That includes any and all who feel persecuted by my right to an opinion." -From Jedediah Bila's OUTNUMBERED Known for her "call-it-like-you-see-it" television, radio, and print commentary, Jedediah kicks it up a notch with OUTNUMBERED. Complete with unforgettable encounters, musings, and personal stories, OUTNUMBERED exposes the true face of the Left through comings and goings in liberal Manhattan. Get ready for an unconventional journey that reminds us of the truths one can discover through everyday life.
The United States is under assault by the progressive attitudes and actions of the liberal Left. At this critical time in our history, it is imperative that conservatives stand united against this assault. The majority of Americans are not progressive liberals, so why should we have to live with progressive liberal policies? Charles Gross thinks it's time to fi ght for individual liberties and America's future. He makes a case for the following: Liberals consistently say one thing and do another. Liberal politicians blatantly promote racism and divisiveness. Progressive liberal concepts enable the Islamic agenda of global domination. Many moderate Americans support liberal candidates, voting against their own best interests. Republican politicians contribute to the problem by failing to act with integrity and according to the Constitution. Gross proposes achievable solutions to restore traditional American values. By reducing the size of the federal government, reforming taxation, maintaining a strong national defense, and applying the tenets of the United States Constitution along with common sense, it is possible to save America from progressive liberalism.
The Second Coming reveals the most important issue on earth at this point in time: Jensenism. Relying upon the vast body of evidence that supports Jensenism, the book attacks head-on the most destructive force of our time - political correctness. As such, it is concerned primarily with political issues, while issues related to economics, religion, and psychology are necessarily addressed as well. Jensenism is the understanding based upon the overwhelming preponderance of scientific evidence, that general mental traits and talent potential are determined far more by an individual's genetic makeup than they are by the environment. The book addresses a highly controversial subject that has been, and continues to be, taboo to openly discuss. But by presenting Jensenism in an overall political framework, as opposed to simply examining the subject by itself, the reader is provided a broader perspective in which a more complete understanding of the subject can be developed. The changing demographics of the world population are examined, with a focus particularly on how Western cultures are being effected by immigration trends. The traditionally Caucasian populations of Europe and North America are seen to be in decline, while the growing immigrant populations replacing them appear to lack the basic capabilities to carry on the cultural standards that have developed over the centuries. In considering Jensenism, the question is raised as to whether or not the newcomers will be able to develop the skill levels necessary to maintain Western Civilization. While relatively short, the reader will find The Second Coming a challenge to digest. It is not a novel, and cannot be called "a simple read." But it is a rewarding one Anyone who is serious about expanding his or her grasp of the most important factors that shape our lives will want to read this book. In the final analysis, the reader will find a greater self-awareness by learning about important causal factors that lie beneath the surface of our everyday lives. The Second Coming may well result in an expanded understanding of life beyond anything that the reader could ever otherwise imagine. In so doing, solutions to ominous problems that are manifesting in the world will hopefully come to light. Jesus Christ cannot be lost in the process.
Evolution/ Science/ Darwin/ BiographyAre we politically, economically, morally, spiritually, and environmentally going up, down, sideways, or crazy? As progressive vision is swept aside by the politics of lunacy, what's to be done about global warming, nuclear overkill, terrorism, galloping corruption, rule by corporation? How are we to go forward rather then be driven backward in evolution? Darwin's Second Revolution is the first book of a trilogy written to provide a new grounding in historical, political, economic, moral, spiritual, and environmental reality for the theory and story of evolution and an integrated new scientific vision for our troubled time.Part I, The Triumph of the Neos, uncovers the story of what set us off in both better and worse evolutionary directions for the 20th and 21st centuries. Part II, A New Language for Evolution and Revolution, cuts through the baffling overload of scientific concepts and languages to a new path for moving ahead. Part III, The Rise and Fall of the Super Neos- including a hard-hitting critique of Richard Dawkins and fellow sociobiologists and evolutionary psychologists, in contrast to the vision of Stuart Kauffman, Ervin Laszlo, and scores of Darwinian second revolutionaries-completes an amazing story of global psychotherapy for the 20th century with a vision of liberation for the 21st century. ..". An amazing accomplishment ...scholarship of deep humanity and needful wisdom... advances a new vision." Robert J. Richards, national award-winning science historian and Darwin scholar. Modern liberalism in America today is really socialism rising in influence. Throughout history, the socialist agenda has been to place all social planning in the hands of the government and minimize or eliminate private enterprise. Today's American Liberals also strive to increase the power of government by taking responsibility out of the hands of the people and centering it in the hands of politicians and bureaucrats. Wittingly or not, as one of the two major parties in America today, there is one that has become the New Socialist Party of America.
This thesis examines the reception of Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War in US foreign policy debates since the end of the Cold War. It begins with a background survey of Thucydides' use in foreign policy debates up to and during the Cold War, primarily by the realist school of international relations, and the comparisons which were drawn between the Cold War and the Peloponnesian War. After the Cold War, these comparisons became less relevant to current debates, and critics of realism began to use Thucydides to support their own theories. The emphasis is on how the three key movements since the Cold War, realism, liberal internationalism and neoconservatism, have each seen aspects in Thucydides' writing to admire and utilise for their theories, at the same time building competing interpretations of key sections from Thucydides' History. At the same time, as well as drawing abstract theories from Thucydides, analysts have also drawn historical parallels between the present and the Peloponnesian War in a creative process which results in modern states playing different ancient roles depending upon the context. I show that Thucydides' text lends itself particularly well to such recycling due to the author's tendency to highlight complex tensions without providing explicit authorial 'answers'.
There is no irony in the fact that H.L. Mencken is a tall figure in the history of letters, and Robert Rives La Monte is wholly forgotten. La Monte, who worked at the Baltimore News as well as being an editor for the International Socialist Review, was a true believer in the promise of Socialism. Here he writes six letters trying to convince H.L. Mencken to reject his selfish ways and become a comrade in the revolution, to usher in a perfect world of total equality and universal brotherhood. Mencken, long time writer for the Baltimore Sun, editor of The American Mercury, and prolific author and essayist, was the absolute worst choice of target for an evangelist of the common man. There have been few who were as openly resolved to a robust Nietzschean individualism. And so, in one of the turn of the last centuries greatest "flame wars," we have the Bard of Baltimore's six responses to those appeals. The battle of the "collective good" versus "individual liberty" still rages in pitched battles. La Monte's voice is rightfully now just one of many faceless advocates of class-warfare, and Mencken's personality survives as the greatest advocate of social Darwinism and thus ultimately Mencken's own views. "(It) shows how (Mencken's) political thinking had solidified-hardened, really. The law of the survival of the fittest, he declares, is "immutable," thus making socialism an absurdity; human progress is the product of the will to power, and all social arrangements failing to take this fact into account are doomed to failure; inequality is natural, even desirable, both in and of itself and as an alternative to mob rule; the world exists to be run by "the first-caste man." -Terry Teachout, The Skeptic: A Life of H.L. Mencken "The argument ofMen versus the Manis one we are still having today. The content of the argument is the relative desirability of two approaches to our social life. On the one hand is proposed a society ofmen: a society in which none is allowed to rise too high above another, a society that subtracts great resources from the more able in an effort to raise up the less able. On the other hand is a society ofthe man: a society in which individuals are left to do what they can with their inherited capabilities, in conditions of maximum personal freedom and minimal state control." -John Derbyshire, from the preface
Fight leftist lunacy with this collection of political aphorisms, written by a man who fled the former Soviet Union and its socialistic "paradise" only to find that he must resume his fight in the United States. Elaborating on the themes from the first volume of Obamasutra, author Ilya Katz provides responsible conservatives with plenty of firepower to win back America from President Barack Obama and his minions. A marriage of truth and humor, this illustrated book of satirical sayings includes the following wisdom: Very often all the words of the President are taken literally, but should be instead understood with an element of humor. Why are Lady Liberty's eyes closed? So she cannot see how she's being taken advantage of. If society wants to be cured from some bad disease, it should first admit it, then plead guilty, and only then is it possible to move ahead. If we can't understand America with the help of brains, it will be too painful to do it with the other parts of the body. Get the insights you need to put Obama and his followers to the test with the overflowing salt of sarcasm in Obamasutra: Volume II: Aphorisms vs. Obamism.
What does the term "neoconservative" mean? Who are we talking about and where did they come from? Abrams answers those very questions through a detailed and critical study of neoconservatism's leading thinker, Norman Podhoretz, and the magazine he edited for 35 years, Commentary. Podhoretz has been described as "the conductor of the neocon orchestra" and through Commentary Podhoretz powerfully shaped neoconservatism. Rich in research, the book is based upon a wide range of sources, including archival and other material never before published in the context of Commentary magazine, including Podhoretz's private papers. It argues that much of what has been said about neoconservatism is the product of willful distortion and exaggeration both by the neoconservatives themselves and their many enemies. From this unique perspective, Abrams examines the origins, rise, and fall of neoconservatism. In understanding Podhoretz, a figure often overlooked, this book sheds light on the origins, ideas, and intellectual pedigree of neoconservatism.
A political guide of reasons not to like Republicans. For anyone unsure of how to vote, or what the pros and cons of the political party's are, this is a must read. It gives a good insight into what the Republicans stand for.
Reveals the true nature of Conservative Party politics by examining the centrality of the myth of One Nation.
The Far-Left Psychosis covers a wide range of topics including, Obama and the 2008 Presidential nominations, atheism, mass media, Radical Islam, and illegal immigration. These topics are discussed with a scathing wit as the author illuminmates the thinking behind the far-left's me-first behavior. The main thesis is to show how the far-left and Obama are accomplishing their goal of moving the entire country left.
There's a reason "The Nation, " America's leading progressive magazine, named Robert Wexler the country's "Most Valuable Congressman." It's the same reason right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh refers to him as "disgusting." It's because for the last twelve years Wexler has been Congress's most outspoken liberal -- taking on George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Alberto Gonzales, General David Petraeus, and, when necessary, even his own party. In "Fire-Breathing Liberal, " Wexler brings readers onto the floor of the House and puts them at the center of some of the last decade's biggest controversies. He passionately describes how he defended Bill Clinton from impeachment and how he stood up against the Bush brothers when the "butterfly" ballots in his Florida district wrongly decided the 2000 presidential election. He also offers an honest and brutal assessment of the Iraq war and explains why he has become a leader in the movement to impeach Vice President Cheney. And, with warmth and wit, Wexler shares some of the funniest stories from the corridors of Congress, including how he became "The Colbert Report"'s most talked-about guest. This is a remarkably candid first-person account of recent political history that shows government as it has rarely been seen -- by a Democrat in the middle of the storms.
2011 edition, with a new introduction by the author and a new foreword by James Gustave Speth As discontent with the economic and political status quo mounts in the wake of the "great recession," America Beyond Capitalism is a book whose time has come. Gar Alperovitz's expert diagnosis of the long-term structural crisis of the American economic and political system is accompanied by detailed, practical answers to the problems we face as a society. Unlike many books that reserve a few pages of a concluding chapter to offer generalized, tentative solutions, Alperovitz marshals years of research into emerging "new economy" strategies to present a comprehensive picture of practical bottom-up efforts currently underway in thousands of communities across the United States. All democratize wealth and empower communities, not corporations: worker-ownership, cooperatives, community land trusts, social enterprises, along with many supporting municipal, state and longer term federal strategies as well. America Beyond Capitalism is a call to arms, an eminently practical roadmap for laying foundations to change a faltering system that increasingly fails to sustain the great American values of equality, liberty and meaningful democracy. Gar Alperovitz is the Lionel R. Bauman Professor of Political Economy at the University of Maryland and co-founder of the Democracy Collaborative. He is the author of numerous books, including Unjust Deserts (with Lew Daly), Making a Place For Community (with Thad Williamson and David Imbroscio), Rebuilding America (with Jeff Faux) and, in connection with foreign policy, Atomic Diplomacy and The Decision to Use the Atomic Bomb.
Americans find themselves in genuine confusion and dismay concerning the actions of President Obama's administration. None of Obama's most important campaign promises--ending the Iraq war, abolishing torture, closing Guantanamo, changing Washington's culture of corruption--has come to pass. Instead, he has bailed out the bankers, escalated the conflict in Afghanistan, launched a new war in Libya, and institutionalized the civil rights abuses of the Bush regime. Roger D. Hodge makes the provocative case that substantive reform was never even on the table. Behind the euphoria of Obama's victory was in fact a business-as-usual corporate machine. Obama's presidency has demonstrated that mere hope is never enough, that change will come only when the American people take charge of their own politics. A brilliantly crafted call to arms, The Mendacity of Hope offers an essential analysis of the American political system and the powerful interests that control our government.
This book examines twelve ways in which Obama is systematically destroying our country. Obama's father said, " T]heoretically there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100 percent of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed." Obama wrote, "It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself." His father hated capitalism and the Western nations, including America. This hatred was passed on to his son. Speaking of our current President, Obama's granny said, "I look at him and I see all the same things-he has taken everything from his father. The son is realizing everything the father wanted. The dreams of the father are still alive in the son." The Anti-American President exposes why Obama hates America and its free market system. It reveals Obama's pursuit of his father's Marxist dreams and his anti-American sentiments. It shows why Obama is fighting for excessive taxes and spending that will cripple the United States.
