Guitarist Dave Alvin is a modern-day acoustic troubadour steeped in the quintessentially American traditions of folk, blues, rock, and country. The roots rocker is captured live in this 1999 appearance on PBS's AUSTIN CITY LIMITS, which has been expanded from its televised half-hour episode to include all 90 minutes of Alvin's performance, including classic songs like "King of California," "Border Radio," and "Marie Marie."

Initially dismissed as riding the crest of the "Alt-Country" wave that flooded pop music in the late 1990s, the Old 97's have proved their unique talent by remaining prolific and popular after several years. The Dallas-born quartet took a brief hiatus after their fifth album, SATELLITE RIDES, but returned with a bang with 2004s DRAG IT UP, which garnered kudos from fans and critics alike. Here, the indomitable rockers are captured live at Hollywood's famed Troubador, energetically performing a set of nearly two dozen of their most beloved tunes.
