Faber Castell Polychomos are the finest oil-based colour pencils on the market. Each pencil has a 3.8mm lead which is coloured with high-quality artists' pigments suspended in an oil-based binder. This lead is bound to its casing of Californian cedar-wood, which renders it exceptionally break-resistant. It is water-resistant, smudgeproof and has exceptional covering power, though it will also sharpen to a very fine point for detailed work. Derwent Blender pens are designed specifically for use with pencils; they allow the artist to blend away pencil lines, creating smooth, intense and even colour. Derwent Blenders work with both colour and graphite pencils.The blenders dissolve the wax found in coloured pencils to give a strong velvety finish.

More pencil layers can be added over the top of blended pencil to create different effects. This set comes with two pens; one 2mm and one 4mm. Use the smaller nib for fine detail and the bigger nib for large areas of colour.

Unison Colour Pastel Fixing Spray is a colourless, non-yellowing fixative for pastel. It's also suitable for use with pencil, charcoal, crayon, chalk drawings and paintings.

This fixing spray helps to protect from smudging, moisture and UV damage. It has a clear, matt finish.

For Charcoal, Pastel, Pencil and Chalk: Unison Fixative is used both during and after the drawing process. Apply to the work in progress to ‘fix’ layers and prevent smudging: allow a minute to dry then continue. The final coat will help protect the finished picture from airborne moisture and from smudging.
