Rumiko Manako is a refreshing outsider in the world of floral
design. Her floral art is as graceful as dance movements, as
technical and well thought-out as Ikenobo (Ikebana) but at the same
time it remains as accessible as Western flower arranging. This
very personal crossover style not only bridges the gap between
traditional flower arranging and ikebana, but the Rumiko Style
seems to be catching on rapidly. Proof of this is the growing
number of national and international followers and the always busy
workshops and demonstrations. Rumiko Manako builds and sculpts with
flowers and leaves, but despite the large dimensions, the
three-dimensionality and the spectacular displays, her designs are
elegant, flawless and poetic without a fault. This book shows
Rumiko's designs in interaction with some special Parisian
landmarks (including Castel Beranger, the Eiffel Tower, La Geode
and Rodin), supplemented with works made in the studio and inspired
by her many travels and encounters.
Beautiful photographs capture this artist's original approach to
floral design Surrounded by flowers from a very young age, the
decision to become a floral designer was anoabvious one for
Hideyuki Niwa. To keep on challenging himself, Niwa often takes
part in competitions and tries creating and photographing a new
design every day to get a thorough understanding of the
characteristics of flowers and their possibilities. His classic,
linear style and minimalist expression with careful placement of
plant materials, quintessential characteristics of the Japanese
aesthetic concent wabi sabi , rightfully won him a Bronze Leaf in
the 2010/2011 edition and the Gold Leaf in the 2012/2013 edition of
Stichting Kunstboek's prestigious International Floral Art.
Funeral flowers are many things - a tribute to the deceased, a
comfort to the bereaved and a source of joy for all at a sad time.
The challenge is to design sensitive, personalized creations for
the client at a competitive price. This book is full of ideas and
inspiration for the client to select, for the funeral director to
use and for florists to follow. This beautiful and practical book
sets out many options for the florist so their funeral work can
provide a personalized and thoughtful tribute. It starts with a
visual feast of designs, organized by season and colour, and then
explains in detail how to make key floral tributes, to best serve
the client and to build a successful business. It showcases over a
hundred full-colour floral tributes, and demonstrates twenty
step-by-step examples of how to make key arrangements. It explains
how to create original designs, from initial planning and sketching
to final ideas. Finally, advice is given on efficient ordering and
costing for profitability and reduced wastage, as well as
environmental considerations. Written by a leading florist, it
demonstrates tenderness and care in every aspect of a sensitive and
emotional final journey, so that funeral flowers can best mark the
loss and celebrate the life of a loved one.
Kanzashi Tsumami is the Japanese art of folding delicate squares of
silk into dimensional flower petals. The art of Kanzashi is
exacting, requiring long years of practice to master - in fact,
only fifteen Kanzashi artists currently practice the traditional
art in Japan. The online craft culture has sprouted a renewed
interest in making Kanzashi, with crafters devising simplified ways
to create these gorgeous fabric flowers, and incorporating cotton
and synthetic fabrics along with the traditional silks. Author
Diane Gilleland's Kanzashi in Bloom takes this interpretation of
Kanzashi a step further, presenting modern, simplified flower
designs as elements in a variety of fun, hip craft projects for
adornments and gifts. The book presents instructions for four
simple Kanzashi components, and demonstrates how these elements can
be mixed and matched to create 20 diverse projects, including
jewellery, fashion embellishments, ornaments and home decor items.
It also takes Kanzashi out of the realm of delicate silks, and
renders them in more user-friendly and unusual materials like
cottons, denim, and recycled jumpers.

The Japanese word 'kanzashi' originally referred to decorative pins
as part of the traditional female hairstyles. These pins were often
works of art in themselves, holding in place elaborate floral
arrangements made with natural or silk flowers. Today, kanzashi
encompasses flowers made from regular fabrics. Sylvie Blondeau
shows you how to make 65 of these simply stunning designs. The
projects are so easy and fun to make that you will soon be making
them for every occasion. Perfect as accessories on clothing,
jewellery, home decorations or table adornments for special
occasions.
For this inspirational, yet instructive, book Shaw presents
portraits of top tastemakers at home who share their joy of
flowers. From interior designers Charlotte Moss, Suzanne
Rheinstein, and Bunny Williams, and event designer Tara Guerard to
floral and garden experts Sybil Sylvester and P. Allen Smith and
culinary consultant Alex Hitz, these luminaries impart their
personal botanical point of view. They show how to incorporate
flowers in home decor and present numerous ways to entertain with
flair. Interior designers illustrate how eclectic furnishings work
well with floral and botanical accents in fabric, wallpaper,
artwork, and accessories to shape chic indoor spaces. We will learn
how traditionalists and modernists put together an attractive
table; for example, by mixing heirloom silver with simple white
china and bright flowers arranged in everyday glass containers.
This gorgeously photographed book concludes with a primer on such
topics as extending the life of fresh-cut flowers and assembling a
table runner of charming blooms. Living Floral is a must-have for
flower and interior design enthusiasts, as well as home gardeners.

She wasn't looking for love until it landed on her doorstep.
Sadie's looking for a fresh start. After missing out on an overdue
promotion, she drunkenly re-opens a long-ignored dating app and,
two days later, finds herself on a date with Jack. Except it isn't
a date. Realizing that she mistakenly matched with Jack on a
roommate-finding app, Sadie prepares to make a hasty exit, only to
finally notice the gorgeous Brooklyn brownstone that Jack is
advertising . . . and the unbelievably cheap rent. Introverted Jack
doesn't know what to make of the talkative whirlwind in front of
him. But he offers Sadie his spare bedroom while she gets back on
her feet, and Sadie, recognizing that her dreams of starting her
own florist business might now finally be possible, accepts. As
Sadie's presence starts to turn the brownstone into a real home,
and Jack learns to come out of his shell, they both begin to wonder
if this accidental roommate arrangement is the best deal they ever
made.
