That Hitler's Gestapo harshly suppressed any signs of opposition inside the Third Reich is a common misconception. This book presents studies of public dissent that prove this was not always the case. It examines circumstances under which "racial" Germans were motivated to protest, as well as the conditions determining the regime's response. Workers, women, and religious groups all convinced the Nazis to appease rather than repress "racial" Germans. Expressions of discontent actually increased during the war, and Hitler remained willing to compromise in governing the German Volk as long as he thought the Reich could salvage victory.

The scientific and technological revolution in shipbuilding in the early twentieth century had a great impact on both the military and the industrial/commercial world. Dancing in the English style explores the development, experience, and cultural representation of popular dance in Britain from the end of the First World War to the early 1950s. On a bright, sunny day, June 8, 1967, the USS Liberty, a U.S. Navy Intelligence ship was sailing off the coast of the Sinai Peninsula. The Israeli/Arab 6 Day War had begun three days earlier. Without warning, our ally's IDF (Israeli Defense Force) aircraft and torpedo boats deliberately attacked, killing 34 United States Americans (31 sailors, 2 marines, and 1 NSA civilian) and wounding 174 - two thirds of the crew were either killed or wounded.
