We live in a time when believing in anything or nothing is considered equally "truthful." Many people don't identify with a specific religion, preferring to think of themselves as "spiritual" to avoid seeming intolerant of other beliefs. This has led to some squishy ideas about right and wrong, as well as false teachings infiltrating our churches. More than ever, we must stand firm on the clear teaching of God's Word. In What Every Christian Should Know, Dr. Robert Jeffress equips you to understand ten core doctrines of Christianity so you can be confident that your faith is built on solid ground and stand strong against false teaching. Each chapter illuminates a core belief of the Christian faith, such as God's Word, the Trinity, angels and demons, sin, salvation, future things, and more. Nothing is more hopeful and beneficial in our trying times than good theology. With vivid illustrations, clear explanations, and practical applications for believers today, this book will help you ground your faith in capital T truth.
Everyone loves a good fairy tale and Island Girl: A Triumph of the Spirit, from author Norma Joyce Dougherty, fits the bill. Norma shares how in 1970, God led her, a poor, young farm girl from Prince Edward Island, Canada to live out a real-life fairy tale on the world stage. "I became a world traveler and overnight success as Miss Dominion of Canada and contestant in the Miss World, Miss Universe, Queen of the Pacific, and semi-finalist in Miss International. She found fame and fortune," but adds, "I lost my home, my self, and a sense of belonging. It took many years to find `me' again." Women of every age will relate with her identity crisis-a crisis that is all too common in this post-modern era due to the bombardment of direct marketing campaigns designed to focus our goals on looking, acting, and being someone we're not. Norma Joyce recounts her story in a lively "fairy-tale" theme as she shares the long journey from a world where lies and deception prevail to one where the truth of Jesus Christ is her power source, her light, radiance, beauty, peace, joy and her triumph.

What might happen if we live out of loving encounter with God and build in response to what he reveals? How can we make space to hear God and say yes to him? What if being a leader is all about being a follower? Is it really that simple? These are the questions that have led Jill Weber on the adventure of saying yes to the more of God - the invitation to really live. This honest, warm and compelling book speaks directly to those who long to encounter more of Jesus, to know how tune into the small movements of the heart, and to have trust in every moment of their lives. With wisdom and wit Jill explores prayer, discernment, vocation and leadership through her story of building and becoming a House of Prayer, offering encouragement that gives readers the confidence to say yes to what God is already doing. Jill's story will build faith in readers and help them to discover the freedom that lies beyond that yes - of giving it all for Jesus. Even the Sparrow is both an invitation and a challenge - to walk step by step as God leads might lead us on paths that are at turns messy, complicated and inconvenient, but as we follow him the path can also be unexpected and breathtaking beauty.

The program that has helped over five million people overcome their hurts, hang-ups, and habits You've undoubtedly heard the expression "time heals all wounds." Unfortunately, it isn't true. As many pastors and counselors know, people still carry hurts from thirty or forty years ago. The truth is, time often makes things worse. Wounds that are left untended fester and spread infection throughout your entire body. Time only extends the pain if the problem isn't dealt with. Your First Step to Celebrate Recovery introduces you to a biblical and balanced program that has helped nearly five million people overcome their hurts, hang-ups, and habits. Based on the actual words of Jesus found in the Sermon on the Mount rather than psychological theory, the Celebrate Recovery program has helped people for over 20 years to grow toward full Christ-like maturity. Author and founder John Baker tells the true story of how Celebrate Recovery became one of the largest Christ-centered recovery programs in history. Baker will help you discover how God's love, truth, grace and forgiveness can bring healing into your life.

The Celtic Christians beheld the world around them and perceived the divine life of God upholding every aspect of the material universe. Their prayers and poems, their liturgies and their theological texts give Christians a sense of faith that is confident in a merciful and infinitely creative, healing God. In this introduction to Celtic Christian spirituality, Mary C. Earle presents the primary texts from the Celtic Christian tradition - selections from the writings of Pelagius, Eriugena and St Patrick, as well as prayers and poems from Wales, the Outer Hebrides and Ireland. These essential texts direct humanity to read the 'book of creation' as well as the book of scripture, and call us to remember that 'matter matters'. The author's engaging facing-page commentary explores how faithful Christians and spiritual seekers use the writings of this lively tradition as ways of embodying and living the gospel.
A Tony Campolo Classic! Best-selling author and popular speaker Tony Campolo writes to communicate the faith in understandable terms to secular people steeped in contemporary ideas about the nature of things, and to clarify for Christian readers how our beliefs intersect conclusively with modern concerns. He does that with both clarity and wit. "Where would we be without Tony Campolo? I encourage all Christians with open minds and hearts to let Tony's wisdom and passion challenge, disturb, and educate you." - Brian McLaren
This Is Our Time to Be the Answer Some days it seems like bad news all around. And with bad news comes questions: "Why is this happening?" "When will it stop?" "What can we do?" And most pressing of all: "Is this the end?" In these hope-filled pages, bestselling author, pastor, and respected Bible teacher Dr. David Jeremiah will help you focus your mind on the hand of God instead of the problems at hand. Jesus Himself revealed what to expect from this season of history when He delivered His Olivet Discourse-a sermon that scholars have called "the most important single passage of prophecy in all the Bible." This study guide, designed for use with Dr. Jeremiah's book The World of the End, focuses on Jesus' prophecy in Matthew 24. Jesus makes it clear that all the signs He points to won't occur at once; instead, they will gradually appear and become stronger and more frequent. You will learn exactly what Jesus promised to us-and what He expects of us-as we approach the World of the End. Each lesson includes: An outline of the main subjects and Scriptures covered during the lesson An overview of Dr. Jeremiah's teaching on the topic being studied Application questions to help both individuals and small groups delve into the content and the Bible A Did You Know? section that adds a point of interest to the lesson
The Christian life requires faith. That means that believers are sometimes faced with uncertainty. But is all uncertainty bad? Theologian Joshua McNall encourages readers to reclaim the little word "perhaps" as a sacred space between the warring extremes of unchecked doubt and zealous dogmatism. To say "perhaps" on certain contested topics means exercising a hopeful imagination, asking hard questions, returning once again to Scripture, and reclaiming the place of holy speculation as we cling to a faith that stands distinct from both pervasive skepticism and abrasive certainty. In this day especially, it's time Christians learned to say "perhaps."
