The Seven Wonders: Stories About Witches Seven stories of power, defiance, and wonder, where magic lingers, fate shifts, and
witches rise. The Seven Wonders is an anthology of witchcraft in its many incarnations: gothic, modern, and utterly strange. From rural South Africa to eerie academies, from hedge witches whispering secrets to forces that defy understanding, these seven tales explore the
trials of power, the cost of magic, and the unbreakable bonds that tether witches to their craft. In a world that has long feared and vilified witches, this collection reclaims them as heroines – figures of resistance, wisdom, and transformation. Whether through fire, foresight, or forbidden rites, each story unveils a different Wonder – some dark, some wondrous, all unforgettable. The stories appearing in this anthology are:
• Lifael – Felix Lamont
• Shooting star – Manjari Jogi
• The Mud Witch – Ciaran R. Maidwell
• The Shaman and the Witch – Nadia
• Cassim Unfamiliars – Francesco Nassimbeni
• A Spell for Healing Death – Luke Wildman
• Witchling – Mia Haven
This diverse collection of short stories, all relating to aviation
during WWII, is written from the perspectives of a group of
disparate individuals. A war-weary American pilot is trapped in a
loveless marriage and an ATA girl gets caught up in Operation
Chastise. A mother's perspective is chronicled along with the
experiences of an Afro-Caribbean Pathfinder and also a German ace,
fearful for the life of his younger brother. Even the exploits of a
courier pigeon are penned! Corkscrew Port Go! is based on the
memoirs of Lancaster bomber wireless operator Reg Payne whose
painting, First Wave, was chosen for the book cover. 'I was
captivated by the quality of the writing: the language captures
beautifully the atmosphere, mood and innocence of a bygone era'
Craig Moore, former RAF flight engineer.
Just as he is about to leave the RAF, Brian Seaton finds that he
has TB. This disrupts his plans to return home - his marriage was
in any case in difficulty - and the novel switches between
Nottingham and the RAF sanitorium. Seaton is also torn between
women - having affairs with two of the nurses at the sanitorium,
while becoming involved with a young woman in his home town, who
also has TB.

'Everything a novel should be: compassionate, unpredictable, and
questioning. Haven is Donoghue at her strange, unsettling best.' -
Maggie O'Farrell, author of Hamnet In seventh-century Ireland, a
priest has a dream telling him to leave the sinful world behind.
Taking two monks with him – young Trian and old Cormac – he
travels down the Shannon in search of an isolated spot on which to
found a new place of worship. Drifting out into the Atlantic, the
three men find an impossibly steep, bare island inhabited by tens
of thousands of birds, and claim it for God. But in such a place,
far from all other humanity, what will survival mean? ‘Haven is a
beautiful, bold blaze of a book’ Rachel Joyce, author of The
Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry ‘Beautiful and timely’ -
Sarah Moss, author of Summerwater ‘Sinister, heart-wrenching and
beautifully written’ The Times ‘Combines pressure-cooker
intensity and radical isolation, to stunning effect’ Margaret
Atwood via Twitter ‘Book of the Year’ pick in The Irish Times,
The Guardian, The Irish Post, RTÉ and The Times.
HarperCollins is proud to present its new range of best-loved,
essential classics.
'All human beings, as we meet them, are commingled out of good
and evil.'
After taking an elixir created in his laboratory, mild mannered
Dr Jekyll is transformed into the cruel and despicable Mr Hyde.
Although seemingly harmless at first, things soon descend into
chaos and Jekyll quickly realises there is only one way to stop
Hyde. Stevenson's quintessential novella of the Victorian era
epitomizes the conflict between psychology, science and religious
morality, but is fundamentally a triumphant study of the duality of
human nature.
