Mapwork is a life skill that learners will need and use in many different careers and vocations, yet many learners taking Geography at FET level struggle with mapwork. This is because they don't have the basic skills to work with maps. Mapwork Made Easy for the Senior Phase provides these skills. . Mapwork Made Easy does this by presenting simple, step-by-step explanations of all mapwork skills required to meet the Learning Outcomes and Assessment Standards of the NCS across the Senior Phase. The Learner's Book consists of Section A and Section B. Section A introduces the learners to basic mapwork skills such as: using map keys, writing directions, working out scale and distance, giving and finding directions and bearings, drawing contours, identifying maps, photos, orthophotos and satellite images. In Section B, learners apply the skill learnt in Section A by completing the exercises based on the maps and photos provided. Features include: colour pages with up-to-date 1:50 000 maps, grids of latitude and longitude and alpha-numeric grids on all maps, black and white aerial photos, orthophotos, colour satellite images. The Teacher's Guide provides: Answers to all eercises in the Learner's Book, teaching tips, a Learning Programme, a Year Plan, a table showing integration, Assessment guidelines and templates.
