DOES THE GMCP10E - 10,000 BTU PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER REQUIRE INSTALLATION?

As a general rule very, little installation is required with portable air conditioners. Like all other models of portable air conditioners, the unit does contain an exhaust hose which needs to be vented to an outside area as this removes warm air and moisture from the room.The most important part of the setup that you will need to complete is determining where to vent the exhaust hose. You will need to vent the exhaust hose through a window, wall, or into an attic to release warm air from the room.

Sliding window exhaust hose kits supplied allow quick and easy window venting without losing cool air to the outside. The window kits supplied with all models of portable air conditioners and designed for sliding Windows. This is not always ideal in a country like South Africa which is why we have locally designed and produced a window seal kit for other window types. This additional window seal kit is available to purchase on all of our online platforms as well as Takealot.



HOW CAN I VENTILATE MY PORTABLE AC THROUGH A PUSH-OUT WINDOW (NON-SLIDING)?

The existing window kits for all Portable Aircons on the market are designed to fit sliding windows. Here at GMC Aircon, we realized this is not always ideal for the South African market and we have locally designed and produced a fabric window seal kit to fit other window types. This additional window seal kit is available for purchase on all of our online platforms. Please ensure the sizing is correct for your window type before purchasing the additional kit.

Internationally and locally, all portable air conditioners come equipped with sliding window kits as a standard feature.

We recognize that windows vary in design and structure. That's precisely why we've taken an innovative approach, investing extra effort to engineer a revolutionary window seal kit that caters perfectly to the diverse range of South African window types. IS THE GMCP10E PORTABLE AIRCON NOISY?

The noise level of portable air conditioners is an important consideration for many people. The medium sound level of portable air conditioners ranges from 52 dB to 57 dB. The average (54.6 dB) and the most common (56 dB) decibel ratings fall within this range. Unlike a split air conditioner, a portable air conditioner has everything in one casing. This means the compressor of the air conditioning, which is responsible for the noise, is built into the casing. As an example, a normal conversation has a decibel rating of between 50dB(A) and 65dB(A). A household fridge has a Decibel Rating of 55dB(A) and a vacuum cleaner has a decibel rating of 75dB(A)

Yes, using the 'Smart Life' App you are able to connect the GMCP10E Portable Aircon to a WIFI enabled device and control your new air conditioner remotely. Full instructions are included in the user manual.



HOW LARGE OF A PORTABLE AIRCON DOES MY ROOM REQUIRE?

Please ensure that the GMCP10E is suitable for the coverage area you require. The ability of a portable air conditioner to cool is measured in BTUs, this refers to the amount of heat a unit can remove from the room. The greater the BTUs, the more cooling capacity the air conditioner has. You will need accurate measurements of your room in order to determine your BTU needs.

The GMCP10E is suitable for an area of approx 15-20m² max. However, a general rule of thumb is 500-600btu/m . If you are not sure of your area, contact one of the GMC Airconditioning team for further technical assistance.

Other factors that can affect the BTUs that your room needs include the insulation, direct sunlight, number of people normally in the room, how hot the room is without air conditioning, and other sources of heat in the room.



WHAT IF MY EXHAUST HOSE ISN'T LONG ENOUGH?

The size of the exhaust supplied with all portable air conditioners on the market is 1.5M as this is the industry standard to ensure optimum performance of the aircon. Adding extra length to your exhaust hose has potential to damage your Portable AC unit and void the manufacturer's warranty.A longer exhaust hose can lead to dangerous overheating of the air conditioning unit; therefore, it is not advised to lengthen the exhaust hose. CAN THE GMCP10E PORTABLE AC COOL MORE THAN ONE ROOM?

Portable AC units do not circulate air beyond the immediate area; therefore, they are not normally effective for cooling more than one room. In general, Portable Aircons are recommended for cooling a single room at a time. Please ensure the GMCP10E matches the room size you are trying to cool. It has the ability to cool down or heat up any space of up to 20m2. Your new GMCP10E Portable Aircon does include castor wheels on the base which allow for easy movement from room to room - We also offer spare window kits for sale which you can setup in additional rooms which will allow for easy movement of your portable aircon allowing you to cool separate rooms at ease.



HOW MANY HOSES DOES THE PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER HAVE?

The GMCP10E is a single hose unit. A single hose portable air conditioner will have one hose that it used to vent the exhaust outside of the room that is being cooled. The unit removed warm air and moisture from the room and vents the warm air away through the exhaust hose. A slight amount of negative pressure is created using this type of Aircon unit due to the air that is released from the room and not replaced. This will be countered by air being drawn in from surrounding rooms.

Does this portable air-conditioner require and exhaust hose?
Yes, all portable air conditioners do require venting via a window, wall or cavity using the window kit supplied, this is so it can vent the hot air outside of the room it is being used in. Portable air conditioners pull in warm air, cool it, and expel the cooled air out of the front of the unit and the remaining warm air and moisture out of the back of the unit. It is this warm air and moisture that needs to be vented out of the room you are currently cooling.
Once you've positioned the portable air conditioner where you'd like it, you must set the exhaust hose through an opening to the outside so that it can vent hot air out of the room. Customers that have purchased this unit for campers and caravans have been able to place this small unit directly against a self-built vent in their caravan or camper.

How do I install my Portable Airconditioner?

What happens to the moisture that is pulled out of the air?

Since portable air conditioners pull moisture as well as heat out of the air, many people are concerned about where the water goes. The GMCP07y - 7000 BTU Portable Aircon uses self-evaporating technology. This innovative technology internally processes and evaporates the collected moisture and then exhausts it out of the back of the unit. In climates that are extra humid, some water may collect in a reservoir located inside the unit. In this case, you can either manually empty the reservoir when it is full.

Is the GMCP07y - 7,000 BTU Portable Aircon energy efficient?

A good rule of thumb is to look at the Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) of the air conditioner you are purchasing. The higher the EER, the more energy efficient the portable air conditioner is. The GMCP07y has been awarded a rating of 'A’ by the department of energy of South Africa.

How long is the exhaust hose supplied with the Portable Aircon?

The exhaust hose supplied is 1.5m long and retractable/extendable to suit your needs.

Is the window kit supplied suitable for all windows?

The industry standard kit supplied is to fit sliding windows in either a upward or left/right motion. This is standard in all kits supplied with all portable air conditioner is South Africa and around the world. It's not always necessary to use the exact kit piece as many of our customers have found custom ways to fit the exhaust hose fairly easily.

We have also produced a locally made window seal kit suitable for casement windows, push-in or push-out type of windows at a maximum length of 2400 mm. The total length is 2400 mm. The width is 280 mm along the length of 1400mm. The 500 mm end pieces tapper from 280 mm down to 40 mm. This kit is available for sale on our website and all major online marketplaces.

GMC 120AP Room Air Purifier with Medical Grade H13 HEPA Filter System.

This is done by means of an advanced multi-stage cleaning system:

3 Stage Pre - Filter -  (removes the large airborne particles)
Activated Carbon Filter - Effectively removes Benzene and other VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), common household chemicals, dust, dust mites, lint, mould spores, pet dander, pet hair, pollen and smoke from the air.
 Medical Grade HEPA (H13) Filter - Removes particles as small as 0.3 microns from the air at 99% effectiveness. The HEPA filter is made up of glass fibre paper and the filtration rate can be from 95% to 99.999%, concentrating on the most penetrating particle size, which is 0.3 micron (1 micron is 1 thousandth of a millimetre). The GMC Mini (Cupboard) Dehumidifier is a small cassette full of silica gel, the material that is often found is small white sachets and shipped with goods like shoes and handbags. Silica gel is a natural absorber of moisture and requires no power to work.
