The Grand Wizard of classic rock. Writer of hope for the downtrodden. The single most important vocal technician in heavy metal history. All of these accolades have been heaped upon Ronnie James Dio. The singer-writer-guitarist-producer founded the multi-platinum metal band, Dio, in 1983 after memorable and historic stints with Elf, Rainbow, and Black Sabbath. Ronnie used good vs. evil allegories, pounding rhythms, and right-hand-man axe heroics to earn a worldwide following that packed stadiums and bought millions of albums. This album packs 10 years of Dio domination onto a single CD.

Black Rain returns with Computer Soul: the final part of a sequence of Blackest Ever Black releases that began with 2011's Now I'm Just A Number: Soundtracks 1994-95, and a first glimpse of the project's richly imagined future. For this outing Stuart Argabright (Ike Yard, Dominatrix, Death Comet Crew) is joined by BR founder member Shinichi Shimokawa as well as more recent recruit Soren Roi and Zanias (vocalist on 2015's Dark Pool) - making for the most most group-oriented iteration of Black Rain since its earliest days. Sonically too, there is a sense of evolution but also of coming full circle: the cyberpunk techno of Argabright's celebrated William Gibson soundtracks (compiled on Now I'm Just A Number) and extrapolations of Dark Pool s neuromantic yearning cut with glimpses of the thrash and industrial rock energies that animated Black Rain's incendiary live shows - and sought-after tapes for Kombinat and TPOS - in the early 90s. More than ever, Black Rain is propelled by a powerful science fiction impulse, whether responding to the themes and characters of Gibson's Sprawl or the Blade Runner universe (particularly K.W. Jeter's spin-off/continuation novels which extended its mythology, and timeline, further). It's not news that many of these works' most powerful predictions and prophesies have come to pass - the replicants are already living among us - so Computer Soul projects further into several possible unforeseen futures, its events 'set' in the second half of the current century, fifty or so years after those of Dark Pool. The hyperpopulated metropolises of Dark Pool are no more; the apartments are empty, haunted by ghosts of AC current, devices and machines running lonely without their owners...a melancholy internet of things. Where has everyone got to? Gone but perhaps not gone. Oblivion beckons - always does - but on the other side of that, something else... another time, another place, a river....and a new way of living.

Mayako Xo is the solo music project of Sara Gernsbacher based in Los Angeles. XO by Mayako Xo is an exercise in singing to multiple selves, non-human, past and future, converging in one looping currant. It is a structure of sparse layers, new age no wave of post punk femme, notes repeating. Guitar phrases asking and answering each other over and over, each time though somehow distinct, with a voice sewn through and around the middle. Recorded and Mixed by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in 2018, minimal chant and knife-like guitar lines coalesce with prose and direct un-affected vocal delivery to keep you enthralled, on your toes.

The church cantata very quickly came to occupy a privileged place in Bach's output, but it was in his Leipzig period that he explored new stylistic possibilities for the genre in several cycles. The third of these, mostly scored for relatively small forces, features in these Dialogkantaten three fine examples of the 'madrigalian' type: in their arias, recitatives and chorales, the composer deploys a poetry that does not exclude audacity and an eloquence worthy of opera. These fervent musical conversations are here conducted con brio thanks to the rapport between two singers as moving as they are inspired.

In spite of the appropriately bleak vibe, these songs feature some of Good Morning's catchiest and most distinctive productions. The spritely groove and easygoing harmonies of 'Depends On What I Know' belie its frustration-ridden lyrics; the gripping, awesome propulsion of 'Country' persists in spite of its appeal to return to a simpler, easier way of being. Thoughtful, melodic, and idiosyncratic, Barnyard is all the things one might love about Good Morning, this time around presented with the fat trimmed and the edges sharpened, loose ends tied and ducks all in a row.

2022 release, the third album from the multi-platinum singer/songwriter. The album is the follow up to 2013's Head or Heart. Christina Perri is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Philadelphia. The singer's first album, lovestrong., grappled with the aftermath of a breakup, signaling Perri as an honest, genuine artist ready to share her emotional journey with her fans. That disc, released in 2011, was bolstered by the success of Perri's single "Jar of Hearts" and led the musician into nine tours over 27 months. Her final show supporting lovestrong. Took place on October 9, 2012 at Los Angeles's iconic Hollywood Bowl with Jason Mraz. Two weeks later, Perri penned the first song for head or heart, her second album.
