In the mid 1980s Carl Plansky began making paint for himself and his friends in the Williamsburg neighbourhood of Brooklyn, New York. Williamsburg Oil Paints accumulated a following and international presence while preserving the handmade integrity of the paint.

Pigments are ground in pure, premium, alkali-refined and PH- balanced linseed oil and made in batches no larger than five gallons at a time. All the materials are hand measured, and every ounce of paint is scrutinised. The paint is packed in 37 ml and 150 ml non-reactive aluminium tubes.

Please be aware that this is a printed colour chart. Though every effort has been taken to ensure accuracy, this colour chart cannot provide an exact guide to the shade and lustre of each colour. Only a hand painted colour chart can convey this information.

Sennelier gathers only the finest organic and inorganic pigments from around the world. These pure pigments are ground very slowly with extreme care to an extra-fine consistency. They are then combined at maximum concentration with an archival safflower oil to yield the highest possible tinting strength and a rich satin finish. This paint has a unique buttery texture.

This blue is light and delicate with a slight purple tinge. This color is said to have been created by millers in Somerset who won a competition to make a dress for Queen Charlotte, consort of King George III.
