Your money has a voice in the heavenly realm. What is it speaking?
For years, there has been talk of a “Great Transfer of Wealth” coming
to God’s people. In the midst of controversy and concern over the
excesses of carnal prosperity teaching, the fact remains that believers
need financial resources in order to fund the advancement of the
Kingdom. For Christians to impact culture, they must understand the
power of translating financial wealth into Kingdom influence. The
problem? This level of wealth and influence continues to evade us, both
personally and corporately. Why?
It’s time to renounce and revoke the enemy’s legal rights in our
finances, and release supernatural abundance from the Court of Heaven.
Robert Henderson travels the globe, teaching the concepts from his
bestselling Courts of Heaven series. When applied, these Kingdom truths
help believers demolish barriers to breakthrough and step into divine
destiny in every arena of life. In this timely new work, Henderson
shows you how to enter this spiritual dimension and engage God as a
Righteous Judge on behalf of your finances.
You will discover how to:
- Remove legal rights the enemy is using to restrain
financial increase in your life.
- Understand the economic system of Heaven: is God a
socialist or capitalist?
- Revoke the spirit of poverty that wars against prosperity
and blessing.
- Release the prophetic voice of your finances before the
Court of Heaven.
- Operate in the Biblical principles of Firstfruits.
- Issue restraining orders against the devil and his agenda
for your finances.
- Break free from “Disrupted timing” and realign with God’s
order of abundance.
If you are experiencing financial hardship or sense an invisible
“ceiling” that limits your current level of financial blessing,
discover how to enter the Courts of Heaven and unlock the abundance
that’s reserved for God’s people!
What is Mormonism? A Student's Introduction is an easy-to-read and
informative overview of the religion founded by Joseph Smith in
1830. This short and lively book covers Mormonism's history, core
beliefs, rituals, and devotional practices, as well as the impact
on the daily lives of its followers. The book focuses on the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Salt Lake City-based
church that is the largest and best-known expression of Mormonism,
whilst also exploring lesser known churches that claim descent from
Smith's original revelations. Designed for undergraduate religious
studies and history students, What is Mormonism? provides a
reliable and easily digestible introduction to a steadily growing
religion that continues to befuddle even learned observers of
American religion and culture.
California, long a Mecca for eccentric cults, has also hosted more
than its share of unusual and unorthodox Christian evangelists and
sects. From pre-Gold Rush days to the 21st Century, visionaries
seeking to revive or transform the Faith have flocked to
California's shores, or have emerged from its environs as native
sons and daughters. Their often-idiosyncratic crusades have
influenced not only Golden State history and culture, but
Christianity as a whole. California Jesus tells the little-known
yet fascinating stories behind the people and groups that populate
Californian Christendom, including: * The Children of God -- Born
on the Huntington Beach boardwalk, this "Jesus People"
hippie-ministry turned to prostituting its members and molesting
its children in the name of Christ * Bebe and C. Thomas Patten --
married evangelists, these Oakland-based Pentecostal preachers
scammed penniless Okie immigrants and major banks alike for
millions * Joe Jeffers -- a renegade Baptist minister who started a
murderous religious war between his followers and a rival's, made
headlines in lurid L.A. sex scandals, and claimed that "Yahweh" had
stashed several billion dollars for him in the constellation Orion
* The Metropolitan Community Church -- Gay L. A. evangelist Troy
Perry challenges homophobia with a hugely controversial, and
much-attacked sect that ministers Christ's love to sexual
"outsiders" * Church of the Holy Family -- film-star Mel Gibson's
schismatic, secretive Malibu parish, which claims to be literally
more Catholic than the Pope * Holy Mountain -- a huge, bizarre,
ever-growing folk-art monument in the Imperial Valley desert built
by an aging drifter to glorify God's love, that's now become an
international tourist destination * And many, many more! Filled
with captivating anecdotes about the state's most colorful and
controversial Christian pastors and sects, and accompanied by many
rare photos and illustrations, California Jesus illuminates this
absorbing yet little-discussed aspect of both state history and
culture, and the Christian experience. Believers and doubters
alike, as well as anyone interested in the Golden State's unique
spiritual heritage, will find this work hard to put down.
Reclaim the transforming power of healing! Although the main method
leading to the conversion of the Roman Empire during the early
years of Christianity lay in healing the sick and casting out evil
spirits, belief in supernatural healing nearly disappeared from
mainline churches during the following centuries. How did something
so central to Jesus' own heart, something so essential to the
spreading of the Gospel, nearly disappear? Join Francis MacNutt as
he explores the fascinating disappearance and today's reawakening
of healing ministry. Jesus has not stopped pouring out His
blessings. Through The Healing Reawakening we can rediscover the
empowerment that the early Church once experienced. "This book is
more than timely. It is avant-garde, a 'forerunner' statement among
signals I sense the Spirit is sending the Church, saying, I'm ready
to move again in earth-shaking revival power."--Jack W. Hayford,
president, The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel;
chancellor, The King's Seminary; founding pastor, The Church On The
Way "A hard-hitting book that should be read by every Christian. I
highly recommend it."--Vinson Synan, distinguished professor of
Church history, dean emeritus, School of Divinity, Regent
University "This is the book for the whole Church at this critical
moment in her history. MacNutt diagnoses with theological and
historical narrative both the loss and today's partial
recovery."--Don Williams, Ph.D, author; Vineyard pastor "Destined
to become required reading for all seekers of truth."--Barbara
Shlemon Ryan, president, Beloved Ministry Francis MacNutt, Ph.D.,
is the author of the bestselling Healing, as well as Deliverance
from Evil Spirits and other books onhealing prayer. He and his
wife, Judith, are the founders of Christian Healing Ministries.
A historical account of how leading evangelicals in the late
nineteenth century fused a passion for evangelism with social
service, cultural engagement and political activism.
Scripting Pentecost explores and develops an analysis of worship
and liturgy in Pentecostal and Charismatic traditions around the
world. It is organized into two main sections: history and
theology, and global case studies. The first section considers
early Pentecostal traditions, the influence of the Welsh revival,
classical Pentecostalism, the Charismatic Renewal movement and
subsequent practices up to the present day. It also provides
contemporary constructive theological reflections on sung worship,
sacramental theology and liturgical practices. The second section
offers a selection of global case studies from America, Europe,
Kenya, Myanmar, Venezuela and Papua New Guinea. These case studies
focus on contemporary worship and liturgical practices and their
significance for Pentecostal and Charismatic studies..
In 2001, a collection of open and affirming churches with
predominantly African American membership and a Pentecostal style
of worship formed a radically new coalition. The group, known now
as the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries or TFAM, has at its core
the idea of "radical inclusivity" the powerful assertion that
everyone, no matter how seemingly flawed or corrupted, has holiness
within. Whether you are LGBT, have HIV/AIDS, have been in prison,
abuse drugs or alcohol, are homeless, or are otherwise compromised
and marginalized, TFAM tells its people, you are one of God's
creations. In Filled with the Spirit, Ellen Lewin gives us a deeply
empathetic ethnography of the worship and community central to
TFAM, telling the story of how the doctrine of radical inclusivity
has expanded beyond those it originally sought to serve to
encompass people of all races, genders, sexualities, and religious
backgrounds. Lewin examines the seemingly paradoxical relationship
between TFAM and traditional black churches, focusing on how
congregations and individual members reclaim the worship practices
of these churches and simultaneously challenge their authority. The
book looks closely at how TFAM worship is legitimated and enhanced
by its use of gospel music and considers the images of food and
African American culture that are central to liturgical imagery, as
well as how understandings of personal authenticity tie into the
desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Throughout, Lewin takes
up what has been mostly missing from our discussions of race,
gender, and sexuality--close attention to spirituality and faith.
Theology has a rich tradition across the African continent, and has
taken myriad directions since Christianity first arrived on its
shores. This handbook charts both historical developments and
contemporary issues in the formation and application of theologies
across the member countries of the African Union. Written by a
panel of expert international contributors, chapters firstly cover
the various methodologies needed to carry out such a survey.
Various theological movements and themes are then discussed, as
well as biblical and doctrinal issues pertinent to African
theology. Subjects addressed include: * Orality and theology *
Indigenous religions and theology * Patristics * Pentecostalism *
Liberation theology * Black theology * Social justice * Sexuality
and theology * Environmental theology * Christology * Eschatology *
The Hebrew Bible and the New Testament The Routledge Handbook of
African Theology is an authoritative and comprehensive survey of
the theological landscape of Africa. As such, it will be a hugely
useful volume to any scholar interested in African religious
dynamics, as well as academics of Theology or Biblical Studies in
an African context.
Research on Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity has increased
dramatically in recent decades, and a diverse array of disciplines
have begun to address a range of elements of these movements. Yet,
there exists very little understanding of Pentecostal theology, and
it is not uncommon to encounter stereotypes and misperceptions.
Addressing this gap in current research, The Routledge Handbook of
Pentecostal Theology is an exceptional reference source to the key
topics, challenges, and debates in this growing field of study and
is the first collection of its kind to offer a comprehensive
presentation and critical discussion of this subject. Comprising
over forty chapters written by a team of international
contributors, the Handbook is divided into five parts:
Contextualizing Pentecostal Theology Sources Theological Method
Doctrines and Practices Conversations and Challenges. These
sections take the reader through a comprehensive introduction to
what Pentecostals believe and how they practice their faith.
Looking at issues such as the core teachings of Pentecostalism
concerning Spirit baptism, divine healing, or eschatology; unique
practices, such as spiritual warfare and worship; and less
discussed issues, such as social justice and gender, each chapter
builds towards a nuanced and global picture of the theology of the
Pentecostal movement. The Routledge Handbook of Pentecostal
Theology is essential reading for students and researchers in
Pentecostal Studies, World Christianity, and Theology as well as
scholars working in contemporary Religious Studies.
A collection of five pictures which address issues and challenges
pertinent (but not exclusively so) to the Black Majority Church in
the UK. They sharpen understanding of the way the BMCs have come to
do church, and also challenge whether the vision is to maintain the
status quo or be a prophetic church. 1. Introductory address by
Bishop Joe Aldred 2. Moving beyond maintenance to mission:
resisting the bewitchment of colonial Christianity by Dr Robert
Beckford 3. Pentecostal Hermeneutics by Revd Ruthlyn Bradshaw 4.
Women in Leadership by Dr Elaine Storkey 5. Youth Culture: Friend
or Foe? By the Revd Carver Anderson.
Our world is full of fear: fear of death, public speaking, flying,
drowning, failure, rejection, snakes, needles, heights, darkness,
enclosed places, and countless more. Satan uses fear to steal joy,
kill opportunity, and destroy hope. God has an antidote:
supernatural courage. Our favorite Bible heroes achieved results
greater than their natural abilities because of bravery that came
only from God. Followers of Jesus throughout history have had the
Holy Spirit come upon them to achieve supernatural outcomes. In
Supernatural Courage, Robinson uses biblical examples, interviews,
and testimonies, along with Bible promises, prayers, and
activations to impart spiritual bravery for strength to live a life
beyond what's normal. These pages will help activate supernatural
courage in your life so that you can hope--and then persevere
through overwhelming challenges, stand against intimidation,
believe for the impossible, forgive amid injustice, use spiritual
gifts for spiritual victories, and finish the race God has given
you.
A scholarly examination of the emergence of English Pentecostalism
at the beginning of the twentieth century. This study aims to
elucidate the origins of how the Pentecostal message came to
England, highlighting reasons for its appeal to an initially small
constituency, while tracing its emergence in specific religious
localities which ranged from Anglican vestry, to mission hall
platform, to domestic drawing room. Its chief purpose is to examine
the origins and emergence of a distinctively English version of the
Pentecostal phenomenon.
Balthasar Hubmaier remains one of the most significant figures in
the radical reformation of the sixteenth century. A Pledge of Love
is close and thorough examination of Hubmaiers view of the
sacraments within the context of worship. This ground-breaking work
examines the distinctive theology of this important Anabaptist and
his possible influence upon others.
Prayer is not a practice or a ritual. It is a place.
A secret place in the Spirit. A place of divine encounters with our heavenly Father where we express our love for Him and enter the dimensions of His glory and power. Where we welcome His presence, receive His revelation and guidance for our life, and are empowered to serve His purposes on earth while experiencing the outpouring of His grace through miracles, healings, deliverances, and salvations. With a scriptural foundation, the conviction of personal experience, and the evidence of many testimonies, Guillermo Maldonado passionately reveals how to enter this place in the Spirit so we, as the body of Christ, can become “a house of prayer.” Discover the joy of two-way communication with the Father. Learn not only to hear His voice but to listen and act on what He is saying to you. See how to build momentum in your prayer life, creating a spiritual atmosphere in which God moves powerfully on behalf of His people. Discover essential keys for breakthrough--and how to have all your prayers answered according to God's will and Word. There has never been a more vital time to find our place in prayer. We are in a period of increased opposition from the enemy as we draw closer to the day of Christ’s return. This requires us to attain a higher level of spiritual power and authority, which can only come through breakthrough prayer that ushers us into God’s presence. Nothing else will prepare us to meet the challenges that are coming our way. Nothing else will prepare us for the second coming of Christ. Now is the time to be spiritually vigilant! Now is the time to watch and pray!
Now in paperback, this corrected text is based on the earliest
sources and represents the most accurate and readable edition of
the Book of Mormon ever published "The product of over two decades
of painstaking labor by Royal Skousen . . . this Yale edition aims
to take us back to the text Smith envisioned as he translated,
according to the faithful, from golden plates that he unearthed in
upstate New York."-Stephen Prothero, Wall Street Journal "Will
forever change the way Latter-day Saints approach modern scripture.
Two hundred years from now... students of the Book of Mormon will
still be poring over Skousen's work. What he has accomplished is
nothing short of phenomenal."-Grant Hardy, Journal of Book of
Mormon Studies First published in 1830, the Book of Mormon is the
authoritative scripture of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. Over the past thirty years, editor Royal Skousen has pored
over Joseph Smith's original manuscripts and earliest editions and
identified about 2,250 textual errors, although many of these
discrepancies stem from inadvertent errors in copying and
typesetting the text. The first edition of The Book of Mormon: The
Earliest Text, published in 2009 to critical acclaim, contained
over 600 corrections that had never before appeared in any standard
edition of the Book of Mormon, with about 250 of them affecting the
text's meaning. This revised, second edition, issued in paperback,
includes additional corrections as well as an illuminating new
introduction by Royal Skousen. It will provide a portable,
accessible version of this important text.
