Men of great stature have always risen from the hardest situations
after proving their worth. Individuals of exceptional character
have always emerged victorious from the greatest tests. The most
admired personalities have grown only through the toughest
predicaments. The greatest eminence has always been earned through
an unbeatable faith. Heroes are solely found among those who have
won the fiercest battles. The giants can only be encountered among
the most brave. No muscle has ever grown strong without hard
training, and no nobility is ever found among those who love the
good life. No soft, weak, timid and undeserving people are
remembered in history, for they have done nothing to attract
admiration. Their name will never be mentioned. There is a law that
has no exceptions: Distinction comes at a proportionate cost. If
you refuse to pay it, you will be forgotten as worthless. Oblivion
will be your lot. But if you want to be an outstanding figure that
inspires, as God wants, a towering personality that impresses, a
brave man or woman that impacts generations and moves the world for
Christ, you ought to want to read this book. God is not honoured by
"rabbits" that run at every hint of danger, but by people that
learn to become fearless and unbeatable. This book is not for the
faint-hearted, nor is it a manual designed to entertain you. It is
designed to bring out of you the man or woman of real valour. If
you are after pleasure, you will never be a candidate for divine
greatness. Ponder carefully on the choice you make in the short
time you have: it has eternal consequences.
Hold My Hand Lord is a collection of sermonettes poems and prayers,
written to bring comfort, peace and encouragement in those moments
we all have at times, when we struggle with life and its problems.
I pray that the readers who turn these pages will be drawn closer
to God and know the depth of God's love for them.
Having made several short missionary trips, working with
children, the author will donate all proceeds from the sale of this
book to children's charities.
Like Gideon, you too have a mighty power hidden within that is
waiting to be put to good use and accomplish great things. It is
not a fanciful thought, but a legitimate one: you can achieve what
most people don't if you make a decision. As far as you are
concerned, the failures of Church leaders and Pastors in the West
are not bad news, for they offer you the perfect opportunity for
greatness. Neither you nor I can attain any eminence without the
failures of others, just as Moses could not have become a giant
without the difficult people of Israel he had delivered from Egypt.
Think also of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Elijah and the other
Prophets: none of them would have been great characters without the
sin of the people. This truth has never changed: without wrongdoing
there have never been giants. These were smart enough to take
advantage of every opportunity. As you look through the Bible, you
will notice that history repeats itself: great people rose only
during times of widespread rebellion and decadence. Are you willing
to respond in a time of moral disaster like ours? The opportunities
are here, right before your eyes, so long as you turn them to your
favour. God Himself calls you to do so, for your greatness brings
great honour to Him.
If you want to have a conversation with God, then you need to do
two things: pray and fast. In this primer focusing on these
fundamental activities of faith, Rev. Dr. Lionel Stokes shares her
transforming life experiences, exploring
what the Bible says about prayer;
why there are so many misconceptions about fasting; and
how fasting and praying interact with each other.
True prayer is a conversation with God, but many think of it as
a monologue because of the way it occurs in church. It's often like
a one-way telephone conversation, in which one person goes on
endlessly without the slightest pause for even an "aha" from the
other party-and then the caller hangs up before a response can be
made. Whatever our circumstances or situations, there are times
when we want or need to communicate with God or to hear from Him.
The means by which we do this, therefore, must be simple and
clear.
If you want to have a real conversation with God and develop a
stronger relationship, with Him, then praying and fasting are the
answers-but you need to do it right. Take a balanced approach
that's safe and effective, and move closer to the Lord with Prayer
and Fasting.
Prayer is essential to a vital Christian life. Prayer changes
things, and prayer changes us There is no more dire need in the
church today than for praying saints This book comprehensively
covers such topics as the definition of prayer, why to pray, how to
pray, intercessory prayer, hindrances to prayer, spiritual warfare
and the power of prayer. Prayer makes the difference in a
Christian's life.
