The Marquis and Marquise de Castillon together with their young son, Jean-Pierre, were forced to flee France for England when the French Revolution broke out in 1789. Jean-Pierre was educated at Eton and only returned to Paris when Napoleon came to power. It was not long before he joined Napoleon's Army, survived the Retreat from Moscow and was badly wounded at the Battle of Waterloo. Whilst in hospital he became friends with Colonel Hubert Dawlish who was in the next bed. Before they both underwent life threatening operations, they made joint wills leaving everything to the other. Jean-Pierre, now the Marquis, survived the operation and returned to his ancestral Chateau to find it looted and in a terrible state of repair. Another blow awaited him when the late Colonel Dawlish's three children arrived as he was now their Guardian. He felt too ill and depressed even to want to see them. The eldest, the beautiful Marietta, was gifted with the powers of healing and herbs and she enthusiastically set about not only bringing the Marquis back to health, but to restoring the Chateau to its former glory. How she found love where she least expected it and showed the Marquis that love and prayer can heal any wounds and overcome all obstacles is told in this exciting and unusual book by BARBARA CARTLAND. Welcome to the brutal and elite world of Basgiath War College, where everyone has an agenda, and every night could be your last . . .

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general - also known as her tough-as-talons mother - has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you're smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away . . . because dragons don't bond to 'fragile' humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother's daughter - like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant. She'll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Alliances will be forged. Lives will be lost. Traitors will become allies . . . or even lovers. But sleep with one eye open because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

Then his mother's illness forced him to return to England, where she demanded that he marry quickly, as she had not long to live. She had chosen his bride for him -- Celina. He was horrified by this threat to his liberty, but since Celina was an old friend and as he loved his mother, he agreed. Only when the wedding was over did his mother reveal that she was not as ill as she had seemed. Furious at the way he had been tricked into marriage, Robin turned on his wife, certain that she must have been party to the deception. But Celina was innocent and became angry at his accusations. She was ready to walk out on him, but then she discovered that his tenants had been ill-treated during his long absences in Paris. She set out to improve their lives, and became so determined to achieve this end that she almost forgot her husband. Robin was not used to women who stood up to him or ignored him. But his wife did both and he found himself intrigued. But neither of them had reckoned with a man who sought revenge on Robin for putting him in prison, and who had finally tracked him down. What happened when he broke into their home and tried to kill Celina, is all told in this exciting, romantic novel by Barbara Cartland. If you like Downton Abbey you will love Barbara Cartland .
