Think Safety - First, Labels & Directions is a book calling for
Standardized Safety LABELING of products found in and around the
home and garage. From Poison Control Center Data, there is evidence
that more than one million people are accidentally poisoned
annually, including hundreds of thousands of children. Adults and
the children under their care are in danger from chemicals for
cleaning and other purposes that are being misused. There is a
great need for Standardized Safety LABELING with Consistent
Formatting, Concise Statements, Easily Understood Wording, and
Clear Directions. This important information is presented in this
book. It is then up to YOU. What are YOU going to do?
It's a book with 'Occupational Health & Safety' in mind. It's a
philosophy using drawings and/ or words to teach people about
staying safe, no matter what their age or educational background.
You don't have to be a poet or writer to write safety messags; same
as you don't need to be an artist of world renown to draw the
pictures; you don't even need to be politically correct in what you
say, although saying that, if you carry something too far then it
goes into the category of discrimination. None of these three
things save peoples lives, but people do and that is why it is so
important to educate people of all ages about staying safe. It's a
philosophy that can be tailor made for young or old. It's an easy
concept, yet it has not been done quite like this before. Having
spoken to health professionals about this project, they have been
amazed and over whelmed by this project and the simplicity of it
and even one health professional asked, "Why he had never thought
of it before and then he wished that he had thought of this
concept." So browse the pages, get some ideas and start being safe,
because the life that you save may not be your own, but rather of
someone in your family, friend or workmate. Lessen the
odds...Reduce the risk...Be safe.
It would take only one unthinkable event to disrupt your way of
life. A terrorist attack, a global pandemic, or sharp currency
devaluation, and you would be forced to fend for yourself in ways
you've never dreamed of. By the end of this book, you won't have a
headful of useless information that you'll soon forget, but rather,
dozens of new and practical urban-survival skills that will be
hard-wired into your brain. Survival is more than just creating a
solar still and rubbing sticks together. It is about using your
knowledge base to improvise and become a tactical thinker. Of
course this book will cover the basics, such as food and water
storage, but it will also teach you black-market bartering
techniques, hand-to-hand combat, weapons of choice, how to survive
during a riot, and how to become a "stunt-double" driver if being
followed or in the event of an attempted carjacking. It will also
discuss developmental psychology in relation to coping with a
disaster, veterinary antibiotics that can be used in place of human
antibiotics during a crisis, protecting against nuclear fallout, as
well as emergency heating, cooking, lighting, power, and much more.
I promise a good kick in the pants as a wake-up call to all those
that are still in dreamland that are not yet driven to prepare. I
hope that after reading this book you will become a survival
warrior, willing to stop at nothing in order for you and your
family to survive
This is a unique safety and self-defense book. Zombie Safety and
Self-Defense Handbook is designed to entice people, especially
young people, to read it BEFORE they run into trouble. It includes
a wide range of very practical ideas on how to avoid real monsters
in today's world. And people in college and beyond may actually
read it because it's not too melodramatic or morbid. High school
students can benefit too, if they are not easily offended by
references to alcohol, drugs, fighting, weaponry, and dating. It is
brief, readable, up-to-date, and appropriately irreverent. The
self-defense portion of the book is also different from other
books. It is intentionally designed to be very simple and very
practical. A person who practices the techniques is likely to
actually remember them and use them if trouble presents itself.
Continuing in the groundbreaking format of "Lessons from Armed
America" (co-written with Mark Walters and Kathy Jackson) "Lessons
from UN-armed America" brings everyday self-defense stories to
life. Mark Walters tells the story and Rob Pincus (one of the
world's greatest personal defense trainers) follows it with
analysis and commentary. You will learn from the experiences of
others and, with the benefit of hindsight and many years of study
and experience, the lessons you take away from this work may one
day save your life.
Distracted driving is a behaviour dangerous to drivers, passengers,
and non-occupants alike. Distraction is a specific type of
inattention that occurs when drivers divert their attention from
the driving task to focus on some other activity instead. Of those
people killed in distraction-affected crashes, 408 occurred in
crashes in which at least one of the drivers was using a cell phone
(13% of fatalities in distraction-affected crashes) at the time of
the crash. Use of a cell phone includes talking/listening to a cell
phone, dialling / texting a cell phone, or other cell-phone-related
activities. In keeping with the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration's distraction plan (Overview of the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration's Driver Distraction Program, April
2010, DOT HS 811 299), the agency continues to refine collection of
information about the role of distracted driving in police-reported
crashes. This book examines data gathered on specific distracting
activities to support the development of safety countermeasures and
to conduct improved data analysis.
Self-Defense is more than kicking and punching; more than "stranger
danger." It's also awareness, self esteem, body language and
emotional boundary setting. Most of the attacks on women are not by
strangers, but by someone they know. This unique approach to self
defense, along with the author's own experiences, will give women
and teen girls awareness skills to avoid a physical confrontation,
as well as valuable tools to defend themselves physically should
they be left with no alternatives. Rhonda Payne, a 7th Degree Black
belt, will take you on a journey from naive and vulnerable, to
confident and empowered. Find your own strengths and enhance your
everyday life by reducing your anxiety associated with interactions
with the outside world. Discover your inner black belt

It was a rough couple of years for the NBA's Minneapolis Lakers.
But at least the 1959-60 season had a promising start. Team owner
Bob Short had drafted college standout Elgin Baylor the year before
and was rebuilding his team around this future superstar. Adding a
new coach in the form of Jim Pollard along with a dose of hometown
enthusiasm had fans looking up. The team even bought an airplane so
they could play teams further away in the newly expanding NBA. Then
something happened, completely out of anyone's control, that almost
changed everything. On January 17, 1960 after a game in St. Louis,
the Lakers boarded their DC-3 for the flight home. Perhaps the
memory of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper perishing
in an Iowa cornfield only 11 months earlier had faded. In any case,
this flight would be like no other. For the first time in print,
the co-pilot of that flight, Harold Gifford, tells the real, full
story of what happened that almost wiped out the Lakers before that
NBA dynasty even had a chance to really get started.
