"Anna watched closely as he struggled to his feet, wanting to help
him, but realizing she shouldn't unless he asked. " Not six months
ago, Anna Kingman had gotten a telegram from the army informing
them that her son, Brent, was dead-"remains not recoverable." After
two weeks of agony and grief, a phone call came explaining that
Brent had somehow survived the ordeal of losing his LRRP team-the
only one that had survived. Now back home on the Kingman Ranch,
Brent must pick up the pieces of his life and find a way to deal
with the post traumatic stress disorder that now defines his world.
In the meantime, the nearby Phillips ranch is burned and Jamaica
Phillips, Brent's longtime friend and flame, is viciously
assaulted. Snow is falling as Brent rides across the vast field
toward home, holding Jamaica in his arms, wrapped in a warm
blanket. Both are bleeding from mysterious wounds-hers are from the
assault, while his were received months earlier in Vietnam. His
family must now struggle with his disease and with the aftermath of
a brutal attack in "Kingman-1971."
Against all odds, Brent Kingman is alive. He survived the
atrocities in Vietnam, and he returned to his family home at
Kingman Ranch. His loved ones surround him, including the love of
his life, Jamaica Phillips, who he saved from the claws of death
twice since his return home. They plan to marry, but fate
intervenes, as Brent finds himself falling victim to malaria, among
other unidentified illnesses picked up overseas. Brent's illnesses
cause hallucinations, which take him back to the horrors of war and
beyond-to a time when he was a little boy, seeking solace from his
father. Time and again, Brent asks his father to "Keep the
Boogeyman away." Sam Kingman is devastated to see his son so weak
and ill, after all he went through in Vietnam. Why do they deserve
this? Why does Brent deserve what looks like punishment? The
Boogeyman is part II of the Kingman-1971 series, following part I,
Jamaica. The Kingman family has suffered much, but young Brent
Kingman has suffered the most. He survived the war, only to return
ill and unable to adjust to normal life. As the hallucinations
threaten to take him under, his family and loving fiancee must pull
together. Together, they will keep the Boogeyman away. They're the
only ones who can.
This is a tale of woe of Meenakshi, an orphan girl from southern
India. Like the thousands of orphans in India, she lives a life in
which others determine her every move. For her, every event is
predestined.
Many of us are fortunate enough to be told and to believe that
our destiny lies within our own hands. In the case of unfortunates
like Meenakshi, that is not the case. All of their efforts to
decide life for themselves are futile. Fate, for them, is the
puppet master. No matter how hard they try there is no outwitting
Destiny for Destiny always triumphs!
- the dinner party was over as Caroline staggered halfway up the
stairs. She dropped her wineglass when she leaned on the stair
rail. 'Etienne', she said, 'Are you going out tonight or shall I
wait up for my nightly bang?' There was a stunned silence, then the
guests shrugged into their wraps and cloaks as they hurried to
leave. - Dangerous Compulsion is the story of four generations of
the Devereaux family that encompassed the years between the Civil
War and 1977. The story was told from a different perspective.

Who? explores the identities of two narrators, the identities of
the missing persons they focus upon, and the identities of a
particular community of women at a particular time in history.
liberation community of the 1970's and 80's, thus offering insight
into the larger Who of this tale. This glimpse occurs within more
intimate, less public settings of this movement and through the
skeptical magnifying glass of one would-be detective's point of
view and the reflective lens of a later chronicler. This novel
raises the question, Who? in relation to the women's movement of
the 1970's, not just about each participant as individuals but also
about the identity they shared. I really liked Who? insight,
mystery, intrigue, and depth.
A heart warming journey seen through the lives of a family moving
to a rural idyll. A mystery lies in their new cottage that keeps
the reader interested in turning the pages to the end.

insightful way. The quaint characters and unique storyline make

A new Second World War novel from bestselling author Diney
Costeloe, based on a gripping and moving true story. Plymouth,
1941. As sirens blare all around, the Shawbrook family take refuge
in a packed shelter. Bombs have already begun to fall through the
night sky when they realise their infant son, Freddie, has been
forgotten in the rush, left to sleep in his crib. Terrified, Vera,
his young mother races to find him and bring him to safety. The
next morning, air raid warden David Shawbrook returns from his
watch to find the shelter pulverised, and his family seemingly all
dead. Dirty footprints inside their home betray the looters who
have rifled through the house. Meanwhile, Maggie waits alone for
her husband. Since the death of her infant son, she passes her days
at home with neither joy nor aim. But not this morning. For this
morning her husband has brought home a child, found abandoned in
the aftermath of the terrible raid - a child she is sure is the one
she held in her arms so many months before. Praise for Diney
Costeloe: 'Truly captivating' Woman & Home 'This is a truly
captivating read that brings together vibrant characters and a
historical setting' Woman's Own 'A gripping saga' My Weekly
Going back to 534 AD, the author of "Tripoli" introduces Belisarius
and his mission to conquer North Africa and to convert Jews and
Berbers to Christianity. Past this ancient background the story
begins with the bombardment of Tripoli during World War II in a
poor section of the city, where Jews, Christians and Muslims
sustained most of the damage from the war, and were the Jacob
family resided. Sofia, the grandmother's of five finds herself
struggling to keep the family alive, first with the Italians, the
Germans, then the British and finally with the people that she
trusted the most the Libyan Arabs.
On the surface, Miranda, Jody, Kim, Theresa, and Natalie have
nothing in common. They come from different backgrounds, different
perspectives, different lives. When they connect at a dream
conference, they decide to meet regularly to share their nighttime
visions, the meaning of their inner selves. Together, they develop
a level of intimacy that perhaps none of them are prepared to face.
During their times together, the girls explore the symbolism and
veiled messages their dreams present. Physically and emotionally
fatigued, Miranda must face the truth about her marriage. Jody
realizes serious change is necessary when a dream suggests she
wants to kill her husband and gag her kids. Kim's healthy lifestyle
doesn't guarantee she'll remain whole. Theresa's career is her
life, but is that enough? Natalie is perfectly content until her
life takes an unexpected turn. With their inner beliefs and
emotions laid bare, each woman must step beyond her comfort zone.
The trust these women place in one another by sharing their dreams
creates a bond of friendship, one that will see them through joys
and heartbreaks. As they unlock their dream's secrets, they grasp
the key to their individual and collective futures.
Cheri Laser's first novel is a seductive page-turner full of
emotion and intrigue, rich with characters that are vividly
painted, funny and poetic.
The lives and mysteries of an immigrant family are bound to
American history as the 20th century's complexities unfold. The
past reaches out to claim Megan Cole in 1988 when her grandmother
shares with her the intimate details of her ancestry.
Traveling from one time setting to another, Megan discovers a
collection of people not soon forgotten. Vibrant and
three-dimensional, the characters love, laugh and hurt one another,
while misunderstandings and secrets lead them into tragedy. Yet
there is no shortage of joy, despite their troubles, as the years
progress, until the accumulation of secrets finally explodes, with
horrific consequences for the family.
In the end, when "The Truth About Cinnamon" is fully revealed,
Megan realizes that nothing about her own life will ever be the
same again.
