numerous trips aboard ocean liners to spend summers at home. The
unusually handsome commander meets Genevieve through Joanna and
their lives collide.

Scharer Germany 1930s. Annelise is a dreamer: imagining her future
while working at her parents' popular bakery in Feldenheim,
Germany, anticipating all the delicious possibilities yet to come.
There are rumours that anti-Jewish sentiment is on the rise, but
Annelise and her parents can't quite believe that it will affect
them; they're hardly religious at all. But as Annelise falls in
love, marries, and gives birth to her daughter Ruthie, the dangers
grow closer: a brick thrown through her window; a childhood friend
who cuts ties with her; customers refusing to patronise the bakery.
Luckily Annelise and her husband are given the chance to leave for
America, but they must go without her parents, whose future and
safety are uncertain. Two generations later, in a small Midwestern
city, Ruthie's daughter and Annelise's granddaughter, Clare, is a

'MAJESTIC STORYTELLING ... A TOUR DE FORCE' John Templeton Smith
October 1940: a raiding party of elite soldiers arrives in the
middle of Nazi-occupied France on a deadly mission. But these are
not troops from Britain's new commando units. They are modern-day
Israeli special forces operators armed with sophisticated
21st-century weaponry. Dispatched eight decades into the past by a
genius physicist who stumbled across the secret of time travel,
their task is simple - ambush Adolf Hitler's personal train, kill
everyone on board and change the course of history. Yet, even if
these Israeli soldiers manage to pull off the most extraordinary
commando raid ever conceived, there's no guarantee they'll make it
home again. RIGHTEOUS KILL takes a daring premise and weaves it
into a gripping, action-packed military thriller. It traces the
journey of a few courageous men who step into the ultimate unknown
on a mission to save millions of lives that will otherwise be lost
in the maelstrom of war and the Holocaust. Written by a former
Israeli army officer, RIGHTEOUS KILL is a riveting blend of
authentic military detail and history-altering combat fiction. It's
the perfect fit for fans of Vince Flynn, Andy McNab, Eric Flint,
Harry Turtledove and John Birmingham. *** Ted Lapkin spent the
first half of his childhood in North Carolina before his Jewish
family moved to Israel. He saw active service as a combat
intelligence officer in the Golani Infantry Brigade, fighting with
the brigade's elite recon company during the battle for the
Beaufort Castle.Graduating summa cum laude from Tel Aviv
University, Ted returned to the United States for postgraduate
study and began to work in politics as a
communications/government-relations strategist. While in Washington
D.C., he met an Australian woman whom he later married. Moving to
Melbourne, he began a PHD (never finished) and began to write
political opinion columns for Australian newspapers. Since then he
has written for many publications, including the Spectator, LA
Times and the Sydney Morning Herald, as well as speeches for
members of the US Congress and Australian Government Cabinet
Ministers. He now runs his own consulting firm that advises clients
on strategic communications, reputation management and government
relations.Ted lives with his wife Sharon in the Melbourne inner
suburb of Fitzroy, described by London's Daily Telegraph newspaper
as one of "the world's most 'hipster' neighbourhoods." RIGHTEOUS
KILL is his first novel.
A warm, captivating and irresistible story of love, family, secrets
and finding your place in the world. For readers of Lucinda Riley
and Kate Morton. Esther Hamilton had a reputation in the small
Queensland town of Noah Vale. That was until she ran away, twenty
years ago, under a cloud of shame. It is now 1955 and following her
death, her daughters, the Hamilton sisters, have come to make the
town their home. Sonnet, at twenty years old, has never set foot in
Noah Vale, but has been the talk of the town for decades. Fable is
a budding artist and lovelier even than her heartbreaking mother.
And Plum is just a little girl who has been taken away from the
only home she has ever known. As the years pass the girls settle
into their new life. But suspicion and judgement follow them
wherever they go. In a small town where everyone knows each other,
it can be hard to escape the past . . . '[A] fresh, original and
evocative coming-of-age story' Tea Cooper, author of The Woman in
the Green Dress 'This novel is an intelligent, assured family saga
which packs an emotional punch' Meg Keneally, author of Fled and
The Wreck
'Page-turning and gritty' DAILY MAIL.
It is 1943 and for agents of the Special Operations Executive, a mission to Nazi-occupied Paris is a death sentence. So why has unlikely spy Harry Mitchell volunteered to return to the city he fled two years ago?
The French capital is at war with itself. Informers, gangsters, collaborators and Resistance factions are as ready to slit each other's throats as they are the Germans'. The occupiers are no better: the Gestapo and Abwehr – military intelligence – are locked in their own lethal battle for dominance.
Mitchell knows the risks but he has a reason to put his life on the line: his family are still in Paris and have fallen into the hands of the Gestapo. With disaster afflicting his mission from the outset, it will take all his ingenuity to even get into the capital... unaware that every step he takes is a step closer to a trap well set and baited.
'Night Flight to Paris is everything a thriller should be: fast-paced with great characters, life or death jeopardy and nail-biting action. David Gilman delivers the goods once again. A terrific read!' MATTHEW HARFFY.
'Absolutely amazing. I'd never thought that another writer could rival Bernard Cornwell ... The level of suspense is ratcheted up to a truly brutal level' SHARON PENMAN.
'A gripping ride through a memorable period of history' WILBUR SMITH.
