As a man who made the enjoyment of life a philosophy, Zino Davidoff
believed in enriching the world with beauty and elegance. The son of an immigrant
tobacco merchant in Geneva Switzerland, Davidoff journeyed to Latin
America at 18 in 1924 to learn the tobacco trade. Returning to Geneva
and taking over the family business in the early 1930s, Davidoff saw
his family’s shop thrive in the haven Switzerland had become for the
wealthy in World War II. The marketing of Cuban cigars, his desktop
cigar humidor and his writings on cigar smoking
and Cuban brands made Davidoff very well known and successful. He sold
his business to the Max Oettinger Company in 1970 but stayed on as the
ambassador for the Davidoff brand until his death in 1994. A holding
company founded in 1885, Max Oettiger recognized the reputation of both
Davidoff the man and his wares and realized they had the perfect
products and vehicle to take this brand to the next level. Eventually,
80% of Oettiger’s revenue would be derived from tobacco and smokers’
accessories marketed primarily under the Davidoff name while 20% came
from other products such as writing instruments, cognacs, leather goods
and fragrances.
The first Davidoff fragrance, Davidoff, was launched in 1984 and
embodies the brand’s philosophy of “the good life”. Pure complete
scents is the ideology behind these perfumes and colognes as no self
respecting person should be without a Davidoff fragrance. Cool Water
cologne, which debuted in 1988, remains amongst the best selling and
highest rated men’s fragrances. Cool Water perfume was introduced in
1996.

Total harmony: this was the goal of the “grand nez” who conceived Pino,
which, during 50 years, was honored and burdened with many imitations.
No imitation could approach the original formula though, respectfully
kept until today blending twelve naturally originated essential oils.
The result is a wellbeing feeling for those wearing it, while those who
get close to it are attracted by its niceness, expressed by its
unmistakable notes, coming from all those perfumes we all met in
nature's great outdoors. That's why Pino can be considered an
“environment friendly” perfume, getting the appreciation of a large
faithful male and female audience.
