There remains a lack of representation from the South Asian
community across all levels of football, despite it being one of
the largest ethnic minority groups to be living in the UK. In this
first of its kind book, trailblazing coach Manisha Tailor profiles
42 pioneering individuals working in all parts of the game - from
male and female players to coaches, referees, board members,
administrators, sports scientists and medical staff - and
representing different cultures and faiths within the British Asian
community. Based on interviews, these powerful stories not only
illustrate the challenges faced by these role models, but lessons
that they can offer young readers. Young people need to see people
like them in order to believe that dreams are possible: the role
models in this inspirational book will show South Asian children
and teens that their football dreams can come true.
New Beginnings (2nd edition): revised and now even better! Features

context; an introduction showing clear links to the new curriculum,
and explaining how the anthology fulfils the requirements for
literature; and more activities to use in class or as homework
practice.
Further Chronicles of Avonlea is a captivating follow-up to
Chronicles of Avonlea, shifting focus from Anne Shirley's personal
adventures to those of her colorful neighbors. The sequel features
15 stories full of the mystery, romance and warmth Avonlea is
famous for. Further Chronicles of Avonlea was published eight years
after its predecessor and consists of new and exciting tales. Of
the 15 short stories, Anne Shirley makes a brief appearance in "The
Little Brown Book of Miss Emily," which centers on her unique
relationship with a cantankerous elderly woman. The book also
highlights the exploits of a mischievous Persian cat, an estranged
father and daughter, and a man who becomes a town pariah. It's a
whirlwind of unforgettable tales that capture the essence of the
small yet bold village. In this second collection of stories, L.M.
Montgomery continues to expand the world of Avonlea. She introduces
new characters and scenarios that take readers on a trip through
the unknown. Whether it's adventure, romance or mystery, the
Further Chronicles of Avonlea has a story to be told. With an
eye-catching new cover, and professionally typeset manuscript, this
edition of Further Chronicles of Avonlea is both modern and
readable.
Angela McAllister's seven original stories follow the changing
landscape of lives on one hillside from the Stone Age to the
present day. Six thousand years ago, people first came to the
hillside and a story began. A Neolithic girl, Roman twins, a
herbalist's daughter, an orphaned bird-scarer, an archaeologist's
niece, three children without a home. Each faced their troubles on
that ancient downland. All found healing in the place that Granny
Down calls home. Wilderness, weather, history, archaeology and
folklore infuse each tale. With gorgeous illustrations of the
wildlife and surrounding landscape at different points in history,
this glorious full-colour, gift book is a celebration of the
enduring power of nature and lives well lived.
