Excellent colour releaseIntense and pure coloursGood to highest degree of lightfastnessVery high colouring power due to high concentration of pigmentFree of pigments based on the metals lead, cadmium and cobalt. The complete range consists of 203 coloursThe composition of soft pastels is such that the colour on the ground approaches that of pure pigment as much as possible. This is achieved through a combination of pigment, a minimal amount of binder and the purest and softest types of kaolin, also referred to as pipe clay or China clay. the balanced proportion of these ingredients results in an as spontaneous as possible colour transfer and a velvety look.
The pastels are made in Northumberland and contain only pure pigments in a cycle of related hues, instead of adding white or black to the colours. The result is intense, vibrant colour not muddied by the blending of colours.
Unison's pastels contain very little binder, making them truly soft and smooth. They are mixed to meticulous recipes and are based on traditional pigments such as cadmiums, cobalts and natural and synthetic earths.

Terry created this set in 2016 from new pigments he had discovered. It
offers a complete array of colors with an umber undertone making it a
strong and useful addition to your pastel collection.
Frustrated with the lack of color options available and few choices for
very soft pastels, Terry Ludwig began experimenting with formulas for
making his own pastels in 1995. His goal was to create a vast array of
color in pastels that were uniformly soft across all densities of hue.
The results were more than 500 intense colors, some of which are
unavailable elsewhere, in a unique square pastel.
Each pastel is crafted with a broad range of pigments by hand with
minimal natural binders. This renders highly concentrated, velvety
pastels. The square shape delivers thick, broad strokes or thin,
precise lines where necessary. The size of these pastels are
approximately 1 1/2″ x 1/2″ x 1/2″. Because each pastel is handcrafted,
the size and shape may vary slightly.
This set includes 1 of each of the following colors: N224, N225, N226,
G771 , G772, G773, A251, A252, A253, N221, N222, N223, A121, A122,
A123, B621, B622, B623, G681, G682, G683, V563, V564, V565, G454, G455,

Jackson’s Handmade Soft Pastels are high quality, artist grade pastels. There are 200 soft and bright colours in the range, as well as a wide variety of themed selection sets.
Our Soft Pastels are made carefully by hand which makes them very soft with a smooth, buttery consistency. They have a low binder to pigment ratio which makes them rich and luminous, allowing for both subtle and bold mark making.
Their excellent lightfast qualities mean that pastel paintings created with them will not deteriorate over time. The four fluorescent colours are the only exception; like all fluorescent colours they are not lightfast.
The pastels are made solely from pigments, a bentonite clay binder, and calcium carbonate (chalk). Each pastel measures approximately 55mm in length and 15mm in diameter.
