Few books have been as universally cherished by children and adults
alike as The Little Prince. A beautiful gift collection of quotes
from the original translation by Katherine Woods, featuring
full-colour illustrations. A pilot stranded in the desert awakes
one morning to see the most extraordinary little fellow standing
before him. “Please…’ asks the stranger, “draw me a
sheep…’ The Little Prince has been capturing the hearts of
readers around the world since its publication in 1943 – this new
collection of quotes features favourite words of wisdom from
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s lyrical, whimsical text. Quotes are
drawn from the original translation by Katherine Woods, a favourite
with fans. With subjects covering childhood, sorrow, friendship,
love and more, this collection has something for everyone.
Featuring original colour illustrations by the author. Antoine de
Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944) was born in Lyons, France. He wrote The
Little Prince in the United States during a two-year self-imposed
exile from occupied France. A year after the book’s publication
in 1943, Saint-Exupéry disappeared over the Mediterranean while
flying a reconnaissance mission for his French air squadron. Best
known throughout the world as the author and illustrator of The
Little Prince, Saint-Exupéry wrote several other books that have
also become classics of world literature. Katherine Woods
(1886-1968) produced the original English translation of The Little
Prince in 1943. It was later followed by several other English
translations, but her classic translation is treasured by fans and
is often considered to be the definitive English translation. Her
poetic translation perfectly captures the enchantment and charm of
Saint-Exupéry’s storytelling.
So, you want to make contact with aliens? How hard can it be? Meet
Matilda as she launches her mission to discover how likely it is
that life exists on other planets. With the help of her friends and
family she learns all she can. What was the Big Bang? How does the
universe expand? How are stars and planets are formed? Along the
way she will discover the electromagnetic spectrum, the speed of
light, and so much more in an easy-to-understand look at physics,
history, language, and of course the all important snacks.
Illustrated by Heidi Cannon.
This is science, not science fiction! Ever wondered if there really
is anyone out there? It's time to start believing. ALIENS! is a
brilliant book which ties in with a fantastic new exhibition being
launched at the Science Museum in October. It covers the main
themes of the exhibition: exploring why we are so fascinated by
aliens, looking at what the earth itself can teach us about what to
expect from alien life, and introducing some of the real
possibilities identified by science.
This brilliantly bonkers book takes a sideways look at all that is
wild, wonderful and downright weird about space, including the
topics of astronauts, space machines and the moon. Find out how
astronauts survive living on a space station, which space probes
have travelled out of the solar system and how the moon moves
oceans on Earth.
To infinity and beyond! This out-of-the-world adventure takes young
explorers on a voyage of discovery across the universe. From the
first satellites to the Moon landings, and from Mars rovers to the
possible colonisation of other planets, this handy reference
provides an overview of space exploration past, present and future.
Packed with amazing photos and infographics throughout, author Ben
Hubbard provides young readers aged nine and above with all the
tools they need for space exploration. Starting with a timeline of
space exploration throughout the years, he then explores famous
events such as the 'Space Race' and the first Moon landings, when
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the first steps on the Moon's
surface in 1969. Young readers will then discover so-called
traveller's guides to all eight planets in our Solar System
(Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune),
the icy dwarf planet Pluto and the Sun, as well as asteroids and
comets. You'll then end with a search for extraterrestrial life,
the failures with previous space travel and what the future of
space exploration might look like. About Lonely Planet Kids: Lonely

Pluto has not been a planet since 2006. But this tiny world still
inspires people of all ages while sparking controversy. In this
delightfully witty book, astronomer Dean Regas teaches you how to
educate your grown-up about the cutting-edge science of space, most
crucially the reason why Pluto is NOT a planet any more. Delving
into the history of space discoveries, the key players who have
helped our understanding of the universe (including the 11-year-old
girl who named Pluto in the first place) and the ever-changing
nature of science, this book will equip every reader with the tools
they need to bring their grown-ups fully up to speed, and to sneak
in as many amazing astronomical facts as possible. And there's a
handy quiz at the end so that you can check your grown-up has been
paying attention!
This high-interest nonfiction reader will help students gain
science content knowledge while building their literacy skills and
reading comprehension. This appropriately leveled text features

Experience the explosive and colourful future of the cosmos,
zooming trillions of years ahead in time with Professor Raman
Prinja, published in association with Royal Observatory Greenwich.
The Future of the Universe starts the future clock NOW and rockets
readers along a forward time line to discover what scientists

Mars, Earth's axis flip and a dramatic galaxy crash! This is the
first book of its kind for this age - putting all the future events
into one place along a clear timeline for readers 9 and up, from
the return of famous comets in a few decades, to the dark end of
the Universe a nonillion years from now. Professor Raman Prinja is
the international, multi-award-winning Head of Department for
Physics and Astronomy at University College London and a celebrated
children's author of many books, including Planetarium and Wonders
of the Night Sky. Illustrator Jan Bielecki's action-packed, vivid
artwork plucks these astonishing phenomena out of the distant
future, and explodes them on the page - sizzling red giant stars

Aria lives on a well-ordered planet whose people have
eradicated illness and even death. Earth is their
‘shadow planet’ which they populated with humans
centuries ago so they could study them and learn from their
experiences. Now the experiment is coming to an end and Aria
must go to Earth with her scientist father to set off a
train of events which will destroy its people. Brought up to
believe that humans are inferior, Aria is shocked
to discover that she is herself half human, and amazed to
find that Earth-dwellers live life to the full
and feel love for each other, even though they are mortal.Â
But once she understands this, how can she save them, and
herself, from destruction?
Starring the Cat in the Hat, this rhymed nonfiction board book
