This is a simple yet comprehensive guide to using the ancient
Chinese system of horoscopes in order to do your own readings. Much
more is involved than just the twelve famous animal signs. The
author shows how the animal year sign cycle is enmeshed with a
repeating cycle of the five elements, yielding a 60-year birth year
cycle (5 x 12); and this in turn is modified by an hour of birth
cycle, which uses the animal signs in a different way. Yin and yang
forces also play a part in the system, which has a classic beauty
of design, yet is supple enough to embrace the multiplicity of
human experience. The book includes extensive year charts, followed
by a 14-page section for each animal sign, covering personality and
aptitude traits, as well as tendencies and potential outcomes with
regard to leisure, career, health, money and family life. A
separate section covers the relationship potential for each sign,
giving helpful scores for every possible combination, with an
ingenious graphic chart offering an at-a-glance summary. The last
major section enables you to work out upcoming astrological
influences for years to come, helping you to make decisions, deal
with change, and cope with other life challenges.

This book is an English translation of Book 21 of the Astrologia
Gallica, in which Morin sets forth his method of horoscope
interpretation. In the first section of the book he reviews the
methods of other astrologers and explains why they are
insufficient. In the second section he explains his own method,
which is both different from and superior to the traditional
methods. Morin was a physician who became the most renowned of all
French astrologers. He was appointed Royal Mathematician to King
Louis XIII and was summoned to be present at the birth of the royal
heir, the future King Louis XIV. His master work, the Astrologia
Gallica, was published in Paris in 1661. It consists of a Preface
and 26 individual books in the scholarly Latin of the 17th century.
Many of these Books are now available in English translation, but
Book 21 should be read first as it contains the fundamental
explanation of the Morin method. Richard S. Baldwin made this
English translation directly from the Latin text.
A comprehensive look at the inner workings of the twelve zodiac
signs - their respective idiosyncrasies and relationships to one
another - by noted astrologer Katharine Merlin. Katharine Merlin
has been writing the monthly horoscope column for Town&Country
for over twenty years, one of the magazine's most popular columns.
This book differs from others on this topic in that it is full of
real-life people, experiences, and events. Merlin draws upon
decades of personal experience to bring each sign to life,
sprinkling her discriptions with anecdotes from people she has come
to know over the years. Foreword by luminary magazine editor and
author herself, Pamela Fiori, supports this book as a serious read
for the sophisticated lover of astrology. Astrology is a very
popular topic with a general audience. The About.com Astrology
website receives over 34 million visitors per month! For more than
twenty years, astrologer Katharine Merlin has penned monthly
horoscopes for Town&Country magazine, producing one of the
magazine's most widely-read and beloved columns and now the most
visited site on the Hearst corporate website for each of its 16
magazines. In The Private Lives of the Sun Signs, Merlin presents
in-depth analyses of each of the twelve zodiac signs - from Aries
to Pisces - illustrating their unique characteristics with
astonishing accuracy. Drawing upon wisdom gleaned over the course
of her forty-year career in astrology, Merlin provides invaluable
insight into the idiosyncrasies of each sign - the way they process
emotions, communicate, find motivation, relate to others, and more.
Through Merlin's illuminating descriptions, we come to understand
our inner selves more deeply - the way we think, work, love, what
makes us tick - and learn to harness the potential of our own
unique gifts. And, by familiarising ourselves with the signs of
friends and partners, we develop tolerance and appreciation for
their distinctive qualities, finding ways that different signs can
complement each other and allowing our relationships to blossom.
