Want to delve deeper into the concepts that made The Wildwood Tarot wildly popular? This workbook further explores those powerful ancient traditions. Wild Magic invokes the power of the Wildwood - the Green Man and Green Woman, as well as all the living archetypes of the forest, such as Herne the Hunter and Robin-in-the-Hood. Journey across time to the pre-Celtic world where primal forces, in the guise of animal, bird, and fish, roamed free and opened doorways into the otherworld of the Ancestors. With chapters on the Lore of the Wild, the Wheel of the Year, shamanic methods of examining the wild, and meditations designed to enable personal encounters with Wildwood archetypes, as well as newly crafted rituals enabling readers to celebrate festivals such as the Midsummer and Midwinter Solstices, the book takes a fresh and informed look at a set of ancient traditions applied to the present.

The "Universal Marseille Tarot" takes us directly to the origin of
tarot. The highly sought-after deck by Claude Burdel (1727-1799),
originally rich with divinatory suggestion, has been beautifully
restored-giving new energy to the ancient images and amplifying
their symbolic meaning.
Michel de Nostredame, sixteenth-century French apothecary and seer, was the most famous visionary of them all. In 1994, in the Italian National Library in Rome, a manuscript believed to be by the man himself was discovered along with 80 mysterious paintings drawing heavily on the symbolism of the tarot. John Matthews and Wil Kinghan realized the implications of this work and, after much research, now bring it to fruition. For the first time, the astounding power of the prophecies is married to the predictive imagery of the Tarot. Fresh translations from the original quatrains add another dimension to the readings making this, without question, the ultimate oracle from the primary prognosticator.

The culture of two continents blends together in this one-of-a-kind tarot deck-creating a fresh perspective on what it means to be African-American. Publisher Review: I have to begin by saying that this may be the most inappropriately named Tarot deck ever. It might be better named the African Tribal Tarot or African Wisdom Tarot or African Culture Tarot. The only cards that have anything to do with the powerful influence African Americans have had on U.S. culture are on some of the pip cards, and this appears in monotone in the background as if the images were plugged in as an afterthought. I get the impression that someone submitted the deck to a publisher and it was refused with the advice that an African Myth and lore Tarot was not wanted, but an African American deck would sell. The artist appears to have plugged in some images in the already existent art. But I'd rather focus on what this deck is rather than the questionable naming, and it's terrific. As with most people in the U.S. educated in the public education system [read more]
