Spaceboy (Paperback): David Walliams Spaceboy (Paperback)
David Walliams
R297 Discovery Miles 2 970 Ships in 5 - 7 working days

Go back to the Space Race with No.1 bestselling author David Walliams for a breathless cinematic adventure full of mystery, action, laughs and surprises – and a secret that could change the course of history…

America. The 1960s. Ruth loves climbing trees, making a mess and throwing stones. But the thing she loves most is SPACE.

The girl is OBSESSED. She spends her days reading comics about alien invasions, doodling UFOs, watching B-movies about Earth being invaded by creatures from Mars… and gazing at the stars through her old, battered telescope.

Until one night, Ruth creeps out of bed in the attic room of her rickety old farmhouse to watch the stars – and is just dozing off when she spots something blazing across the sky. Something that looks like a flying saucer! Is she dreaming? No! And the flying saucer is on fire…

But when the UFO crash-lands in the cornfield, and Ruth rushes to help, she finds a mystery – and an adventure – beyond her wildest dreams…

Aliens - Join the Scientists Searching Space for Extraterrestrial Life (Hardcover): Joalda Morancy, Neon Squid Aliens - Join the Scientists Searching Space for Extraterrestrial Life (Hardcover)
Joalda Morancy, Neon Squid; Illustrated by Grimes
R150 R117 Discovery Miles 1 170 Save R33 (22%) Ships in 5 - 10 working days

This book will sort myth from fact to bring you the real science behind the search for alien lifeforms. Space expert Joalda Morancy will take readers on a tour of the Solar System (and beyond) on board new NASA missions searching for the most likely alien hiding places - from icy moons of Jupiter to the clouds of Venus. Along the way kids will find out about: * The robots sent to Mars to look for Martians * What really goes on at Area 51 * Ways to spot an advanced alien civilisation (hint - look for dim stars) Readers will explore a comet, race futuristic spaceships, and discuss what we would say to aliens when we finally meet them (after "hello!"). They may seem as fanciful as wizards and monsters, but this book will show that scientists not only believe that aliens exist - but that it's only a matter of time before we find them.

Ted Wilding-White; Illustrated by Various 1
R174 Discovery Miles 1 740 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

From flying saucers and supersonic spaceships, to alien encounters and famous fakes, this classic title traces UFOs throughout history, and is the perfect companion for any space enthusiast. First published in 1977, this is the second book from Usborne's beloved World of the Unknown series to be brought back by popular demand. With a brand new foreword by impressionist, actor and comedian Jon Culshaw, otherwise the book remains unchanged from the original. For centuries people have been seeing strange lights and shapes in the sky, and weird creatures walking the Earth, but in recent years there seem to have been more of these 'objects' than ever. Researchers have tried to find out more about them, but while many have been explained, there still remain a few which defy identification. World of the Unknown UFOs investigates UFO case stories. It tells you what is known of the flying saucer mystery and suggests some possible solutions to it. Where do UFOs come from? Are they spaceships guided by creatures from other worlds? Are they figments of people's imaginations? You can find answers to some of these questions in this book and learn how to make your own UFO model, how to fake a UFO photograph, and even how to go hunting for real UFOs.
