In charge of the team is British Major Smith (Richard Burton), with American Lieutenant Schaffer (Eastwood) as second in command. Parachuting into the enemy territory in German uniforms, the squad discover one of their number dead on arrival and Smith suspects that he may have a traitor amongst his unit.

A Clockwork Orange (1971)
Stanley Kubrick's controversial film triggered copycat violence on its initial release and as a result the director withdrew the film from circulation in Britain, keeping it suppressed right up to his death in 1999. The film follows sadistic punk Alex (Malcolm McDowell) as he takes his gang on a rape and murder spree, showing absolutely no mercy to any of his victims. When he is eventually captured, the authorities subject him to a series of experiments designed to rid him of his violent tendencies.

Barry Lyndon (1975)
Redmond Barry (Ryan O'Neal) is a young, roguish Irishman who's determined, in any way, to make a life for himself as a wealthy nobleman. Enlisting in the British Army and fighting in Europe's Seven Years War, Barry deserts, then joins the Prussian army, gets promoted to the rank of a spy, and becomes a pupil to a Chevalier and con artist/gambler. Barry then lies, dupes, duels and seduces his way up the social ladder, entering into a lustful but loveless marriage to a wealthy countess named Lady Lyndon. He takes the name of Barry Lyndon, settles in England with wealth and power beyond his wildest dreams, before eventually falling into ruin.

The Shining (1980)
From a script he co-adapted from the Stephen King novel, Kubrick melds vivid performances, menacing settings, dreamlike tracking shots and shock after shock into a milestone of the macabre. The Shining is the director's epic tale of a man in a snowbound hotel descending into murderous delusions. In a signature role, Jack Nicholson ("Heeeere's Johnny!") stars as Jack Torrance, who's come to the elegant, isolated Overlook Hotel as off-season caretaker with his wife (Shelley Duvall) and son (Danny Lloyd).

Full Metal Jacket (1987)

Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Kubrick's daring and controversial last film is a bracing psychosexual journey through a haunting dreamscape, a riveting suspense tale and a career milestone for stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Cruise plays a doctor who plunges into an erotic foray that threatens his marriage - and may ensnare him in a murder mystery--after his wife's (Kidman) admission of sexual longings. As the story sweeps from doubt and fear to self-discovery and reconciliation, Kubrick orchestrates it with masterful flourishes. The prequel 'Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed' (2012) follows the journey of a group of airborne infantry soldiers who are parachuted into occupied France in 1944. The Parachute Regimental Combat Team jumped into the south of France on the 15th of August 1944, landing behind enemy lines. The men's mission was to help clear a path for the main bulk of British and US soldiers advancing towards Berlin. However, landing in occupied territory is always a dangerous business and the soldiers soon find themselves fighting in close combat with German troops and teaming up with members of the French resistance who seek their help. The third film 'Saints and Soldiers: The Void' (2014) is set during the final stages of the Second World War in Germany where a group of American troops must try to overcome racial barriers in order to defeat the Nazi's. In the aftermath of the Gulf War, US soldiers Major Archie Gates (George Clooney), Sergeant Troy Barlow (Mark Wahlberg), Staff Sergeant Chief Elgin (Ice Cube) and Private Conrad Vig (Spike Jonze) discover an Iraqi map revealing the location of Saddam Hussein's hidden gold bullion.
