Coliro Pearlcolors are unique shimmery metallic shades, perfect for creating wonderful shiny effects across a variety of techniques. Coliro Pearlcolors can be used in the same way as watercolours, simply using a brush and water. They are suitable for most surfaces including paper, stone and wood. Perfect to use on dark paper, they are ideally suited for calligraphy but are suitable for for many techniques in the same way watercolours would be.
Finetec Coliro Pearlcolors are manufactured using only Mica-Pigments and Gum Arabic.
Please note: because each colour is hand-made no two colour pots are the same. Additionally, the colour pots are slightly curved at the bottom due to the natural drying process, this means sometimes a little hole can appear in the middle of the colour pot after some use. This is not a default but an effect of the manufacturing process.

To achieve the outstanding characteristics, like reusable paint when dried on a palette and the high control of paint flow even on soft water-colour papers Schmincke only use the best raw materials. In its colouristic appearance the total assortment is particularly harmonious, balanced and complete.
One main ingredient of the water-colour binding medium is Kordofan Gum Arabic from the southern Sahara region. Like most natural products this traditional water-colour binding medium differs from year to year. Therefore Schmincke is testing Gum Arabic every time before purchase and selects only the best crop of the respective year. This adds small but significant quality advantages. Other formula ingredients are selected equally carefully and of course are integrated in each formula in an individual optimised way to obtain a harmonious assortment, that can be easily picked up by the brush.
Another traditional quality criterion is the re-usability of the Horadam Aquarell water-colours while using the same formulation for tubes and pans. Both properties, the reusability and the control of the paint flow can only be achieved by pouring water-colours into pans in a liquid state, which is really unique.
It used to be that watercolor painters had few options beyond white
paper or a few colored boards. Now you can turn almost any surface
into a toned or black ground for watercolor painting, as well as
collage, pastels, pencils and mixed media work.Mars Black makes our
Luminescent Watercolors “pop” and also provides an exciting,
unexpected background for all your standard watercolor paints. Soft
pastels, graphite and watercolor pencils show up beautifully on
both the buff and black. It’s so easy to apply Ground over an area
within a painting that needs rescuing—or for working on different
compositional areas. You can also lift and scrub without damaging
the painting surface. youtube=vrt--My-4go

A European style transparent watercolour, Holbein watercolour also preserves the brush handling qualities inherent in traditional Japanese watercolour techniques. Without ox-gall or other dispersing agents, Holbein watercolour moves slowly, thus permitting greater colour density and brush control. It is a colour line with a consistent creamy texture that remains smooth when dry without cracking, crumbling, chipping or molding in the palette. It may be re-wetted easily like a pan colour. For this reason Holbein does not produce watercolours in pan form but allows artists to create their own selection.
Fill the wells of a suitable palette with the desired colour selection. Permit to dry, then wet the colour when needed. Holbein watercolours produce brilliant transparent washes as well as powerful clean darks when used in more concentrated applications. Engineered to surpass the quality standards set by both North American and European manufacturers, Holbein watercolour is widely preferred around the world for it's handling qualities. Holbein watercolour ranks as the world’s finest.

The colours are chosen according to mass tone (colour from tube), undertone (bias of colour when in a thin film), colour strength, relative opacity and the character of the pigment in water colour, ie. granulating, staining or even wash. The resultant colour spectrum ensures the largest number of colours can be mixed from the range. The optimum brilliance of every colour in the Artists' Water Colour range is unparalleled by any other water colour. Remarkably, this brilliance is combined with high permanence.

The Langton is a high-quality watercolour paper. The paper is
colour-stable, mould-made and acid-free, and is designed to withstand
repeated washes without pulping or cockling.
Langton is a superior quality watercolour paper. For many years artists
have appreciated the qualities of the Langton. Made traditionally on a
cylinder mould machine, the paper features a natural whiteness with a
soft touch and distinctive texture. Langton watercolour paper is acid
free with an alkali reserve to preserve finished pieces of work and
protect against discolouration. Treated with an anti-fungal treatment,
Langton watercolour paper also boasts a gelatinised surface for
strength and resilience.
Please note, these sheets have a 'Not' finish (cold-pressed). They have
a slightly textured surface, and are not recommended for painting in an
extremely detailed manner, though they should be suitable for most
purposes.

The Cotman Water Colour range has a more uniform consistency than the Artists' Water Colour range and this benefits beginners as there is less to learn about each individual pigment. The Cotman Water Colour range also relates to the Winsor & Newton Artists' Water Colour range, this enables artists to use colours from both ranges with minimal adjustment to their technique.
MaimeriBlu features an absolute purity of pigments that, together with gum arabic, compose the totality of the mixture. Imperceptible, transparent, clean. No blending powders, and no additives. Nothing harmonises or synchronises the shift between the various shades. The real value lies in the transparency of its colours and in the freshness of its washes. It is the whiteness of the paper that illuminates this type of painting. The light is behind the colour.
In order to achieve high standards regarding lightfastness, resolubility and stability, Schmincke Horadam watercolours contains only the finest raw materials.
The paints are bound with Kordofan gum arabic from the southern Sahara. Due to the natural source of the binder, the gum arabic does tend to differ slightly year on year. Schmincke continually tests their ingredients and the best of the batch is selected to ensure the highest quality is achieved.
Another quality of Schmincke's Horadam watercolours is their re-solubility. You will find the same formulation in both their tubes and pans, which means that paint which has dried onto your palette can be easily re-wetted and painted with again.

Schmincke Horadam Watercolors are high quality, professional watercolors that have a few special characteristics. The optimum amount of ox-gall is added to each color to give artists ultimate control with the flow and distribution of color. The binder which is used is Kordofan Gum Arabic from the Southern Sahara region.
Like most natural products, the integrity and quality of the Gum Arabic differs from year to year, Schmincke tests each batch of Gum Arabic every time to select only the best crop of the respective year. The paint is fully reusable when dried on a palette as Schmincke use the same formulation for their tubes and pans. This is unusual as many other brands of watercolor have a different formula for the pans which allows them to extrude the paint like clay and cut it into pieces to put into the pans. Horadam pans are poured four times in a liquid state, allowing the color to dry for some weeks in a drying chamber. This drying chamber has a certain degree of moisture which settles on the color between each filling – this means the colors remain rich and easily rewettable.

Albrecht Dürer artists' watercolour pencils provide artists with great versatility of expression when drawing, shading and painting in watercolours. High-quality materials, combined with over 250 years of experience, have resulted in watercolour pencils that produce unsurpassed watercolour effects and vibrancy. The coloured surface can be transformed with only a few fine or broad brush strokes to reveal the full and unique power of the colours. Depending on the paper being used, the pigments can be completely dissolved, and will then behave in the same way as classic watercolour paints.
