Plantation life and hotel life with my grandparents and parents was
very safe and protected to me, just before WWII. Then the wartime,
with the Japanese invasion and their concentration camp, severed me
ruthlessly from my familiar and secure surroundings, and all hell
broke loose. It never became the same ever again, even after the
war was over. My parents, me, and half a million of my people left
the country of our birth and traveled from continent to continent.
