The flooding of "Trout Lake" in upstate New York reveals the
glories and intrigues of living in an Adirondack town. A reclusive
billionaire, two frozen-in-time sisters, a manipulative mayor, and
a school teacher with a secret are among the eccentric yet touching
characters. Subplots include the anonymous bestowing of $100 bills
on selective citizens, and various wars between locals and summer
residents. At the center of the storm are Henry, a retired lawyer,
and his wheelchair-bound wife Sally radiating humor and wisdom.
