This a story based on the life of my great grandfather who ran away
from home in Mississippi at the age of sixteen and came to Texas.
He arrived in roughly 1860 and was caught up in the Civil War, was
captured, escaped by jumping overboard off a steam ship on the
Mississippi on his way to the prison camp Camp Douglas in Chicago.
He made his way back to Texas and became an Indian Fighter, rancher
and Texas Ranger. A good story outlining the life of a young
adventurer during the Era of the Civil War and the shaping the
Texas frontier.
