As with the previous instalments, the storyline follows the same routine plotting: one person has a premonition and saves the lives of a bunch of fellow teens from some spectacular disaster, the disaster happens anyway, and soon after, the "saved" survivors die one by one, as their deaths were part of some "higher" design.
So while the plot offers nothing new, that's not the reason for enjoying these movies. The fun is had in the individual death scenes, and no, not because they're overtly gruesome, but because they're so highly inventive and involve ordinary day-to-day objects that surround us - things that we might take for granted. Each death scene is suspenseful and thrilling. And the visual effects in certain set-pieces are superb, especially the opening disaster foreseen in the premonition as well as the surprisingly gripping and action-packed climax set inside a luxurious shopping mall.
Unfortunately, the acting from a largely unknown cast isn't anything to rave about, but from a teen horror/suspense flick, that's about to be expected. Still, it's a fun movie and should keep you entertained throughout the somewhat "brief"-feeling 82 minutes. (3 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)
Horror sequel. A day at the races turns grisly after teenager Nick
O'Bannon (Bobby Campo) has a nightmare about one of the cars
crashing and killing him and all his friends. He manages to warn
his friends and they escape the grisly accident, which happens as
he foretold - but little do the survivors know that this is only
the beginning, as Death sets out to collect those who evaded their
fate in a series of ever more creative and gruesome ways.
