Danguillier's thesis discusses and catalogues depictions of
philosophers in Roman art between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD. The
detailed study presents a typology of iconography found in
different types of portraiture, including mosaics, sculpture,
sarcophagi, Greek replicas and Christian art and traces
chronological trends in style.
