At the height of the American Revolution, our hero Alan Lewrie
(seventeen-year-old bastard son of Sir Hugo Willoughby) has been
shipped off to the Royal Navy to be out of sight and, all had
hoped, lost at sea. Instead he took to the sea and ships, to war
and leadership. And leaving his boyhood behind, he sets off on a
brilliant naval career.
