Studies of the Middle Palaeolithic in Northwestern Greece have
relied heavily on evidence from rockshelter sites and a single
open-air site, Asprochaliko. Papagianni's study aims to redress
this and focuses on lithic assemblages recovered from open-air
sites in the Epirus and Corfu areas. The results of her analysis
are used to make inferences on industrial variability, regional
adaptations, technological developments and, ultimately, the human
baehaviour associated with these.
