Ed Mitchell flew on the first B-29 raid over Japan in June, 1944,
marking the first time Americans had bombed the island since Gen.
Jimmy Doolittle's raid. He went on to a career as an airline pilot
with Seaboard World, where he helped ferry a "lost tribe" of
Israel, faced down Idi Amin, and found himself at the center of
some of the twentieth century's greatest conflicts. Mitchell and
his companion, Sue Burger, live in Englewood Florida, where both
are active in the community.
