John Nettles narrates the extraordinary story of Jambo the gorilla
at naturalist Gerald Durrell's famous Jersey Zoo. When a young boy
fell into the gorilla enclosure in 1986, onlookers were horrified
when the injured boy was approached by Jambo, a male silverback. To
everyone's amazement however, Jambo protected the boy from the
other gorillas until he could be rescued. This documentary tells
the full story of the Jersey Zoo's gorilla family and includes the
dramatic news footage that did more than anything to change
people's perceptions of the gorilla.
