Snapshots of Vietnam: the Unraveling of a Non-Combatant tells the
true story of Jim Marsh's thirteen months in Vietnam in a series of
vignettes that capture his internal war as well as the external
bloodshed. Marsh shows the war through these literary photos that
are both poetic and profound in their brevity and simplicity. Each
piece captures a scene, and when put all together the book as a
whole shows a young man falling apart as he is broken physically
and mentally.Thirty-five years after returning from the war, Marsh
begins to heal by writing down these images that have haunted him
all these years. And the reader is also healed in the process.
