This country is full of obesity. Almost half of our citizens are
overweight, and their numbers, in both population and mass, are
only increasing. I spend much of my days ruminating about one in
particular: Xander, a patient I have watched since birth. He was a
fat baby, he was a fat toddler, a fat grade-schooler, a fat teen,
and adult. His parents couldn't help. Taco Bell didn't help. I
tried to help as his pediatrician, but this was an appetite that
wasn't stopping for anything. This is a glimpse into his morbid
life.
