The 3rd Platoon was written by an Infantry Platoon Leader who was
among the first American soldiers to see combat during the Korean
conflict. War was never declared and the action taken was by United
Nation Forces. The hostilities were considered to be only a police
action in a effort to stop the spread of Communism. This conflict
may not have been an all out war but it is declared as one of the
bloodiest conflicts of modern times. Soldiers of several nations
were involved fighting under the authority of the United Nations.
Most weapons of modern times were employed and millions of people
were killed, wounded or missing. Other millions of people were
displaced. United Nation Forces consisted primarily of soldiers
from South Korea, England, Canada, Australia, Turkey and the United
States. There were scattered support from other nations but the
United states furnished a majority of the troops and cost of this
conflict. Enemy forces consisted of; North Korea, China and a
sprinkling of Russian airmen
