John Stevens Cabot Abbott (1805-1877) was an American historian,
pastor, and pedagogical writer. He was a voluminous writer of books
on Christian ethics, and of popular histories, which were credited
with cultivating a popular interest in history. Madame Roland was,
together with her husband Jean-Marie Roland de la Platiere, a
supporter of the French Revolution and influential member of the
Girondist faction. She fell out of favor during the Reign of Terror
and died on the guillotine.
