Jessie Strickland, forty-eight, lesbian, and abruptly unemployed is
dissatisfied with her life. She decides to spend time at a mountain
resort in Northeastern Arizona to contemplate her options. On the
way, she stumbles into a situation she cannot ignore: the young
waitress in a small-town diner has caught her attention, both
physically and spiritually. At the resort, Jessie cannot erase the
woman from her thoughts. When dreams, featuring a dude ranch and
the young woman, disturb her rest, Jessie is convinced that she
must be dreaming of a past incarnation. She returns to the diner
and ultimately learns that the waitress, Connie Laskey, is having
the same dreams. A small ranching community is where the unearthing
of past lives unfolds. We follow Jessie and Connie as they discover
one another and fall in love again. As they unravel their history,
the jealousies and violence of the past manifest in the present and
threaten their love.
