When Trina found out she cheated on him as a way to get back at him. This started a process that went on well into their adult years. They constantly loved each other just to end up hurting one another. Throughout all of the trials, tribulations, and cheating the one thing that remained in tact was their friendship. They were best friends and regardless of whatever else was happening in their lives they always had each others backs and that was more important than anything. As Trina and Jake grew older they knew that the day would come when they would have to make the final decision to be a couple and continue to hurt one another or just be friends.
