Translator Leon Simon serves as editor for this collection of seven
essays, originally published in 1910, drawn from lectures given at
the North London Jewish Literary Union between 1907 and 1909. They
give readers a very general overview of the predispositions and
predilections of Jewish thought since the time when Jews were
dispersed across the world. This volume covers the intellectual
development of the Jewish community since the coming of
Christianity, but because of the time of publication, does not
cover the change in Judaism as a result of the Holocaust. Topics
