This volume reports on the use of conventional X-ray and
CT-scanning to investigate a sample of 127 mummified animals in
British museums. It presents a methodology for this relatively new
field of study, showing how radiographic technologies can be used
to identify species, the age and sex of the animal, body cavity
contents, pathology and cause of death, as well as aspects of the
mummification process.
