This is the story of Poppy, a puppy who has been placed with the
Humane Society. It follows her from the time she wakes up in a cage
through her various attempts to get adopted by the strangers who
come to visit her. Along the way she befriends an older dog, Ruter,
who clues her in on just how the adoption business works. This book
is an excellent tool for parents who are attempting to explain the
concept of adoption or pet adoption to a child. The feelings that
Poppy has as she longs for a family of her own are feelings that
will touch both children and adults.
