Expedition Leader Mike Harris is an accomplished writer, explorer
and film producer who has led a number of major expeditions
throughout the world, including the first expeditions to search for
the Titanic in the North Atlantic. On Mike's first expedition in
1971 he led a group of professional divers and film makers to
Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands where they dove on American,
German and Japanese warships that were sunk by atom bomb testing
after WWII. Mike produced a film of his first adventure called
"Deadly Fathoms" which featured Rod Serling and won a Silver Medal
at the Atlanta International Film Festival. On Mike's second
expedition he led a group of mountain climbers and Biblical
Scholars up the slopes of Mt. Ararat in Turkey to search for Noah's
Ark. His film "Expedition to Noah's Ark" featured acclaimed actor
Joseph Cotten as his on-camera host and narrator. Mike's third
adventure film took him to the mountains of Old Mexico where he
searched for buried treasure. His film "Pancho Villa's Treasure"
featured film and television star Cesar Romero as his on-camera
host and narrator. In 1980 Mike then led the first expedition to
search for the Titanic in the North Atlantic. His film "Search for
the Titanic" featured legendary actor Orson Wells as his on-camera
host and narrator. Mr. Wells said it was an honor for him to work
on such an important film. Mike's second Titanic film in 1981
featured James 'The Virginian' Drury, who actually joined Mike at
sea during his second Titanic adventure. Mike has also filmed
eye-witnesses in the Marshall Islands and on Saipan who claim the
famed aviatrix Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan didn't
just crash into the ocean and disappear as history tells us They
told Mike on camera that Amelia and Fred actually crashed their
Lockheed Electra off Mili Atoll in the Marshall Islands, were
captured by the Japanese, then taken to Saipan in the Marianna
Islands where they were put into prison and eventually killed.
Mike's many projects have taken him from Guyana to the Arctic
Circle, Greenland to Israel and have included multiple studies of
the Chinese Admiral Zheng He and the incredible fleet of Ming
Treasure Ships he commanded on seven expeditions sixty years before
Columbus discovered America. Harris is a member of The Explorers
Club of New York, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in
London and has been listed in Who's Who in American since 2000.
Mike Harris has truly lived a Titanic Life
