One of these authors, Olly Richards, promotes reading stories as a way of learning a foreign language. He is the co-author of this collection and the one for beginners that precedes it. As a student of French, trying to move my schoolboy French of more than 50 years ago to a level where I can converse with reasonable fluency, albeit it not entirely error free, this is indispensable material and a pleasure to read. I think Olly is right - this is a very good way of improving language skills. I read the stories aloud to practise pronunciation and reread them several times.
