I am a teacher and even in Primary school I have found that most other dictionaries have insufficient entries. The kids all beg to use this one when we are doing dictionary skills as they know they will find all the words in this one. I strongly recommend that you invest ONCE for your kids/yourself instead of buying the simpler INADEQUATE dictionaries and having to upgrade. It is a bit heavy to carry around so the Oxford Students Dictionary is a useful second dictionary if you need to carry one back and forth to school. Don't waste your money on any others! My husband and I occasionally "read" the dictionary and often find words we didn't know although we are well read and English is our mother tongue.
