Gorgeous Book

Thu, 24 Dec 2020 | Review by: Martin H.

A beautiful book that any Star Wars fan would enjoy. It only covers the vehicles actually seen in the 11 movies, nothing from The Mandalorian or Clone Wars TV series. For example the Imperial Light Cruiser that is Imperial era but is not shown in the movies except for in the the TV series is not in this book, or for example the capital class destroying prototype that lead to the creation of B-Wings (which is in the book). That said the amount of detail given on the vehicles are spectacular, the cross section drawings are beautiful and as I read through the book I was inspired to start another marathon of the 11 movies. Some plot points are given away, so don't read the book before watching anything (this book is not aimed for newbies to be fair). The blessing in the Foreword given by the Head of ILM is a warm touch. Hidalgo and DK have been doing this for a while and it shows. The book is divided into 3 eras: Republic (Episode 1-3), Imperial (Episode 4-6, Solo and Rogue One) and First Order (Episode 7-9) It for example includes the 3 stages of the Millennium Falcon as it changed owners. It also explains advancements made over the eras, like how the AT-M6 (First Order) evolved from the AT-AT (Imperial) This is a beautiful book and would serve well as a coffee table book in any nerdy home or nerdcave. And if you have a loved one that loves the franchise/universe you can't go wrong to buy them this, that is if they haven't gotten it already.
