This book describes the fate of those Soviet citizens who were
declared "enemies of the people" not because of what they had done
but because who they were. This legal principal led to a holocaust
that killed millions of loyal and honest Soviet citizens and
incarcerated millions more in system of slave labor camps known as
the Gulag. Not only did it destroy the best and the brightest, but
it thwarted the development of socialist society that was supposed
to have to emphasized economic justice, the rule of law and a
better life.
